Default Tucson Experience.

Reza:

Was that you helping QQ through the week at the Shootout? If so, could you give a summary of QQ's and your experience over the week?

Hi Docvan,

If you meant calling for Quique no it wasn't me but I was there with him all the time. I can tell you the competition was tight and hot. Scores were so close that you couldn't tell who's going to take it. Quique talked highly of Kyle and Mark all the time. He did say that Kyle has a very bright future. He said he is smooth and has control over his plane in his 3D flying.
Mark and Quique were 5 points apart in 6000! That right there says how tight the competition was.

I have been with Quique for quite some time but never knew how competitive he is. I tell you, he fights for it and he does his best to be on top. It's amazing how he keeps up with competition and his own company.

Now if you don't mind I'd like to tell you about my own perception of the competition in general.

First of all Desert Aircraft and other sponsors did an awesome job. The event was flawless. Thank you to all that made this possible.

I myself have been a fan of 3D flying more than precision. After watching the top pilots doing their sequences, I realized how hard precision flying is. It requires lots of dedication, practice and concentration and you will certainly get a kick out of watching a complicated sequence that is well done. It may not be as exciting to non pilots (spectators) but certainly has its own merit.

I would suggest to everyone that might be able to make it out next year to do so. It is a great experience and will help you improve your skills without a doubt.

It was a pleasure meeting many folks out there.
Before I forget, I'd like to remind you guys that FG crew were everywhere trying to cover the events for you. I saw Bob, Max, Monica, Toro, Snap-a-sor.. and I tell you that I don't want to be in their shoes. It is really difficult to travel, stay and cover these events. I hope you guys appreciate this and support them to have a successful business so they can continue their efforts in bringing you the latest.

Thank you for your question,

Reza

Thanks Reza. I guess I assumed that was you calling for QQ. I second your other comments. Pattern and sequences may not bring in the spectators, but that is 'real' flying, and real pressure.

QQ seems to be pretty quiet person, but I bet he burns pretty hot when he gets the bit in his teeth. The other young competitors deserved his kudos. I was impressed by how the top invitiational competitors shared their time and knowledge with the other competitors in the sportsman and other classes. I know he's a business competitor of QQs, but I was impressed with the way Chip Hyde mentored the young sportsman winner, Ryan Archer.

The FG staff also deserved your and QQs compliments. The pictures and videos make it look like it's all fun, but it's hard work.

Next time I'll work up the courage to say hello. If you could, let us know what QQs 2007 competition schedule will be. It's worth the travel time to see him fly.
