Hey Matt,
Is the desire for a full size plane wrapper so that whenever you go to that new paint scheme with the 3 Musketeer look, you can keep it under wraps and slow down the melting ? By the way, some nice flying in the video. Especially liked the takeoff.

Matt.... I have heard that the (Obnoxious to RC'ers) Yaw coupling does not really bother Full Size Aero-Pilots.... is that true?? Does the full size Cap Couple bad with Rudder... (Every model Cap I have seen sure does) And why don't designers (Like Extra and Sukhoi and the Edge folks) Lower the stab on the fuselage to reduce the coupling...???? (If it exists) Gnarly vid dude!!! Everytime I am around some Model Airplane "Trojan God Who thinks they are all that and a double wide bag of chips" and act like they are a celebrity race car driver, I can't help think that this is a guy who can fly a Toy Airplane really well... SO WHAT!!! YOU have earned the right!!!! You place your own life in there and throw'er around.... You have earned the right to clank!!! And funny... You don't have the 'tude that these other guys have... Hats Off!!!! |

Ok, Just a guess here, and only a guess.
Possibility when the plane is in landing or near stall configuration( slow with high angle of attack ) the cavitating air flow coming off the wing would reduce effectiveness of the horizontal stab/elevator. So they move the stab up to get it out of this air flow. Just a guess, please don't flame me.

Blah, blah blah. The "Airshow" in question was Frank Noll Jr. flying a Great Planes 35% Cap 580 in Bill CLine's back yard. Matt was filming . Nice try Matty boy.

I agree with Biff,,, looks like a 1:1 with a 9,404cc engine.

![]() I actually think it is a practice based on convenience... the fuselages are a tube structure... and it is the most convenient place to put it... that.. or underneath... I don't think the full size planes go thru iterations like models... so making subtle changes is not as simple... add to that getting it certified... changing after certification pro'ly requires as much paperwork as the plane weighs... |
