Ivan took a lot more out of his 260 than most people do.
You can see build pics on his website.
His plane has nearly 300 flights on it i believe. No problems.

I got a real good look at Ivan's 260. He is truly a master craftsman. His lightening technique is really amazing.

The polyurethane actually saturates it. I brush one coat of Fast Dry Minwax on one side and its there. Balsa soaks this stuff real good. Any fuel residue will wipe off. I've been fuel proofing with the stuff for years, works very good for glo" stuff also. It seals, toughen's up balsa and is light. Walmart $8.00 a guart..

I think walt's getting a work out here. Put the bricks on. Take the bricks off. Think he also missed one on the second wing..............Just kidding. Looks like he sanded the wings before he glued them in the shucks? Looks great guys.

For me its easier to just go ahead and edge glue the sheeting and finish out the wing panels on a flat surface. The panels are sanded to 240 before I sheet the cores. Walt

Walt,
Makes good sence. I just hate sanding. I will take everything to work and spend a day making a mess there instead of the house. Don't tell the Boss !

Wayne you're a lucky bastard to have friends with such skills.

Its really very easy to do. I layout the pattern on the piece to cut. Crosscheck to insure your not removing material needed per plans. Draw the pattern on the part and with a holesaw cut out the radius'ed corners. The rest of the material is cut with a hand held saber saw or jig saw. I usually cut it slightly undersize and with a drum sander in a Die Grinder clean up to the desired size. Afterwords I lay the piece on a sheet of construction paper and make a template for the next one or for later on down the road. Walt

Awesome job Walt!!!!!

Here is a pic of my baby edge being rebuilt from scratch.
I managed to remove 1.2lbs from the motor box and gear mount and it looks like you took out more than me!!!!

Now if I can ever get finished moving I might be able to finish it this winter......
