The "L" brackets on my 330 make me nervous. Maybe I should replace them as it is proven plastic can get brittle over time. This 300 looks good, I agree with using the same scheme. Seems everybody wants a new great scheme nobody has, but that is a silent contest you will always get one up'd on.
Motor mounts are going in the mail Wayne.

Hey Jeff , get a piece of small ali. angle and replace the plastic. A buddy of mine fluttered a 40% Carden Giles and destroyed the servos. Made an emergency landing and all was well. The ali brackets held.

walt,
i didn't follow your old 260 thread so you may not even do this but if you hand plane your bevels what type of plane are you using? i have been using my band saw to cut my bevels which works good but takes some bit of setup time and i thought on this latest project i would try a plane to see how it works out. i have a couple but they more or less hack up the soft balsa,

Hey Steve, I bandsaw bevel the elevators and rudder hinge stock before I glue it on. I pre drill for hinges also. Ailerons I bevel by hand with a Master Airscrew Hand plane and sand straight with a 48inch T sander. There are photo's of the way I do this in the 260 build thread..hope this helps, Walt

Hey Walt / Wayne,

Great looking build going on here as always. I followed the 260 build, and if you take requests, I would love to see some detailed photos of the canopy attachment method you like to use when you get to that point. I got the gist of it when you did the 260, but would really like to see as much as possible when you get to that point on this build.

Thanks in advance for the detail if you remember.

Happy Thanksgiving!

J.

Here's where we've been: I got this idea to make some panels to cover the canisters and mount the accessories on. The panels are Texalium laminated to balsa, lite ply and just fabric and resin. It looks real cool and will add a nice touch to the interior of the build. It adds a little weight but for the application and where its going to be used it won't amount to much. This Texalium is similar to fiberglass cloth with an aluminum treatment to give it the shiny surface.
