There actually is a full size version of the Katana, but it is quite different than any of the model versions you have have seen. Here is a link to the fullscale aircraft that has been built and flown by Pietro Terzi Aircraft.

Tank--I stand corrected. You know your stuff !!! Thanks for your reply. I was thinking of the new Xtreeme katana from Ultra RC for my new airplane for next year, but I really thought the Katana was sort of a composite model made of of characteristics of various full scale airplanes to perform well in 3D acro. I learned something from you. Thanks--Dan

In most cases, yes, there are landing fees that can vary from $10 to $50. These fees are there to pay for the awards given out at the event, as well as to provide a donation to the hosting club so that there is an incentive for them to host our events. Contact the CD of the event to find out what the landing fee is for that specific event.
Why do they call it a landing fee? Does the fee still apply if the plane doesn't land?

landings are mandatory.......doesn't matter how awful it is.....eventually you will re-acquaint your model with the ground.

That was a great write up. Now, my question is where do I get a printed copy of the Basic routine. I located a video which was great. I need a hard copy of the sequence.

Tank, you may want to mention no vertical manuvers after take-off until you enter the box, I got chewed out for a vertical up line on take-off at the end of the runway. I was flying Basic in Land-O-Lakes in the season opener. I as a beginner was not aware of that fact and did risk a big fat 0. I will be at judging school this weekend in JAX and will surely learn more, then there will be no more excuses for me!!!!

That is correct, no vertical uplines prior to entering the box or after exiting the box. In the rule book, there are a listed set of "turn-around" maneuver that can be used, and are the only maneuvers you can do prior to entering the box.

Tank, I had the pleasure of talking with Fred Johnson after my flying was completed, the man that wrote the AMA rule book for Aerobatics. This man is a book of knowledge, he has more than 40 years in the full scale aerobatic world. He is featured in this month's issue of Model Aviation with his T-6, the Famous 55!!!!!

Hello all,
I am thinking of doing a little competing here and there in local IMAC events and I know the plane has to have a dash panel and a pilot figure. But I have an IMAC "newbee" question, does the pilot figure have to correspond to the scale of aircraft?
I have a 2.3m Extra and the pilot I really want to use is a bust of the old cartoon character Dick Dasterdly and it's quite a bit small for the canopy.

Thanks,
Shawn

From the Rule Book:

6.6: A realistic three-dimensional human pilot and viewable instrument panel shall be appropriately installed in all Scale Aerobatic aircraft. (A one [1] percent flight score penalty will be assessed for noncompliance.)
