Default Chip hyde double vision question.

I was wondering if anyone had one of these and could give me a few measurements on it. I need to know what the distance from the spinner to the tail is, the height of the tail including the wheel. the height from the top of the cobane to the bottom of the wheels and if the cobane and or gear can be removed for transportation. Also, does it qualify as a pattern plane?

Pattern plane? Probably wouldn't make weight. Chip's original DV was a balsa sandwich from Japan. Works of art! The production version with a DA 50 is around 16-17 pounds. Do you mean specifically pattern or IMAC? I had one and loved it. EXTREMELY nimble and very forgiving. Sorry don't have measurments.

Here ya go:

Spinner to tail: around 85" or 86" with a Tru-Turn 3 1/2 Ultimate style spinner

Height of tail from tail wheel: 22" as set up on my DV

Cabane (top wing center section) to ground (3 1/4" dia wheels): 23 1/2"

As far as removing the cabane and landing gear for transport, yes, it can be done but I'd recommend not to. If you really had to fit it under a pickup truck bed cover, I would remove the stabs and lay the fuse down on its side on some foam padding. In which case the wheel pant to wheel pant outside dimension is 19"

The plane flies great and is pattern and 3D capable. I suppose you could fly IMAC Basic with it but it may not be F3A? pattern legal (I think there's a 2m x 2m box limitation?) I'm having a blast with mine. They are on the last production run so are being closed out priced by Chip and Chief Aircraft.

dude its one of the very best fliers out there - its pretty accurate but it can take super hard 3D - you can pull a full power wall and then just waterfall at full engine - it also does the fastest forward tumble i have ever seen - the knife edge spin is so fast its a blur - fun plane - i am on no 3!!!!!
