I just wanted to tell everyone a story. As most know I have a 2.6m Comp Arf Extra with a 3W 106. About a month ago I was shooting around the option of getting my motor Ported and polished or sending it in to AI to be reworked and cleaned. When I posted the thought and asked everyone what they would do almost everyone suggested to go for the porting and polishing, Garrett sent me a PM and just let me know that IF my motor has a Crack in the crank case or any other Manufacture problem that I would be stuck with the bill of replacing the items. He suggested sending it to AI before I go and do anything like that to my motor. So I followed his advise and sent it back to AI. Well Come to find out my motor had many problems..... Hairline fracture in the crank case up by the webbing in the front of the motor, Stuck rings which was causing blow by and carboned up my crank shaft. Gerhards words were he pulled a coal mine out of the motor
The reed housing had a issue also along with both of my Ignition caps and a new hub. Now it sounds like I did not take care of my motor at all but the fact is I did. I used Amsoil 100:1 (Not anymore) I am being told that Amsoil is a great oil but is not designed for lower RPM motors, apparently the oil does not get burned up completely, clumps together and carbons up. Gerhard says Honda HP2 oil is the best. I also want to let everyone know that my motor was running well, It was sent it due to sheered prop bolts in the hub and a cleaning, What I am getting at is it may be a good idea to send in your motor for a check up every couple of years....... To finish this up, Garrett if your reading this THANK YOU for the good advise Chris Mc Nair |

Garretts one of the good guys !! I don't think he would ever mislead anyone about any products. Weather he is sponsored by them or not. Just a real stand up guy.

Yup, Garrett knows the difference between Chickenfeed and Chickenshiite, fo sho.
I heard he can even do a loop AND a roll, all in the same flight. Whilst I do not agree with him on EVERY engine choice, the Sumbiatch can out-fly me into the dirt, and twice on Sunday. Ifn' I had his skills, I'd be pimpin' too....!
