you will love it. for those who might not know, this yak is an exact copy of EF yak with the exception of different color theme.
Actually it's not a copy, it's the same plane made in the same factory. I'm picking mine up next week.

It would be nice if someone could post the weight out of the box. It would need to be around 8 3/4 to come out at 15 3/4 all up dry.

I am 8lb 6.8 oz and that includes the plastic bags the hardware is in. I do not have the wheels, axles, collars or fuel tank in this weight.

Fuse with hatch 3lb 7oz
rudder 3.4 oz
stab 3.8 oz each
cowl 9.4 oz
Landing gear 10.3
stab tube .4
wing L 1lb 1.9 oz
wing R 1lb 2.3 oz
wing tube 3.5 oz
wheel pants 3.6
hardware packages including tail wheel and packaging 5.5 oz

I hope this answers your question.

Can someone do me a favor and measure the diameter of the cowl? I have a 3W 56 that I'd like to put in one of these and I'm curious how much the spark plugs caps are going to stick out.

I still have and I'm still flying it, but I always wanted one of the EF Yaks and now I can have a similar one that I like the covering scheme better on anyways. I'm going to wait to see what EF comes out with first. It's rumored that they have an Edge and and Extra 300 in the works and I want to see them before I buy anything.

Oh, and I'll be keeping the CAP if I buy another airframe. Can't be the stability in harriers and I love flying it.

CG was an issue on my EF Yak. My main battery was hanging 1-2" off the front of the engine firewall, my ignition battery was in the engine box, and was running a stock muffler, CF spinner, and wood prop. It was tailheavy. I think it could have been a little better if I would have positioned both batteries in front of the firewall.
Obviously, if you use a CF prop, aluminum spinner, pitts muffler, and/or install the wheelpants, it will only help with the minor CG issue. Bottom line, while getting the CG right is a little tricky, it can be done without adding dead weight.

Even with the DA on my EF version, I had to cut out the entire bottom of the cowl around the cylinder and I reccommend it anyway for sufficient cooling.

I can always make some baffling out of really light balsa. The 56 will fit in a QQ 85" Yak with just cutting out for the spark plugs and so I imagine that will be the case for me as well. Plus I measure my engine and it's just a little over 10" with the spark plug caps on.
