If you do not have your plane set up correctly it just really doesn't matter what you are flying.

Yep the plane is a lanier and actually Falcons is the reason I got it
. I will have the planes set up nose heavy because over all the planes I have flown I like nose heavey over tail heavy in any situation except 3d. I will probably not be doing much 3d because this plane is going to be dedicated to the comps. If I ever am to the point of doing a freestyle than I could probabley have the means to get a different plane. Btw here is what my setup will be using. I will have 3w or DA depending on what comes up in the used market when I have the money. I am hopeing a DA. I will have 2 hs 5955 on each wing two on the rudder and one on each elevatotor half. I will have duralite packs. A smartfly power regulator. I am not sure If I will use smoke or not. Also I think the new trend in planes is the 300 mid wing. One of the things that impressed me at the shootout was the wildhare. Anyways you guys are making this edge sound fine. Any other tips on mods I should do before finishing. Thanks again!

That is a problem with laniers and that is another thing I am concerned about. Anyone know good places on an edge to remove weight???

I would start by opening any and all lightening holes in the plywood that you can get to. Maybe enlarge them by 1/8 to 1/4 inch all around.

The forward hatch, the engine box, and the turtledeck are good places to cut some fat out of a Lanier Edge. The foam wings and tail are good but the fuse is definitely overbuilt in some areas.

If you did everything I did then your weight should be fine. If you see any excess fat go ahead and get the dremel out, other than that just finish the plane and enjoy it and don't worry about the weight. It weighs what it weighs and that's the best you can hope for. Not that I've flown mine, but I think you'll like the way yours flies when you get it in the air.

Been two years since I worked on mine. There is a possibility I could be moving back to the Northwest at the end of the year so I may have the chance to resume building it. I have seen Edges that were very good at snaps and spins; I think it's all in the setup.

If it's a Lanier do yourself a favor and get rid of it, and get a girlfriend.
