Default What EDGE 540 should I buy

Hey like the tittle says. What edge 540 should I buy. I am flying a showtime 4d right now but I was a gasser around a 80" wingspan. I really like the 540s.So that is what I decided to buy nexted. But the problem I am having is that there is so many companys making them. I was looking at the Precision aerobatics. It seems nice. Im looking for a plane in the $500 range. max. I mean I would really like a composite but I can afford one. So please help me. If you could please add the links to you message for the company that you think would be best if you dont mind.

Thanks
Tom

Not many newer Edges out in this size. I would recommend taking a look at some Extras and Yaks in the 50 cc size. 80 inches is kinda a tweener....between gas and glow. Go 84 to 87 span. The newer designs are coming in lighter per flight reports. These include the Aviation Models, Aeroworks and Air Wild Extra 260's. I'd also take a look at the Wild Hare 50 cc Extra 300 (the new model). Ultra RC has a Giles around 80 span that is best on glow and they are coming out with an 87 span Yak that is the old Extreme Flight design (very light for its size). Also, Extreme Flight has promised to announce a new 50 cc bird in the next few days. I'd wait to see what they have but you better jump on it right away if you like their offering. If you are set on an Edge, and you want an ARF, the Precision Aerobatics 50 cc Edge is reported to be very light. Not sure how many people have it in the states though. By the way, for not too much more money, you can go 33% and get a 80 cc single. Bigger usually flies better. Good luck.

does extreme comp have a web site. I want to look at all my choices before I buy one. So keep the ideas coming.

Woodbutcher is the fiberlite a kit you have to build or a arf and what is it made out of. I was also wondering you set up. It looks nice.

thanks

I didn't really like the original wold hare 540T, I could never get it to track well. It would always do screwy stuff on the yaw axis on negative pushouts. That said, it would waterfall like crazy and do one of the flattest inverted flat spins I've ever seen. The new stuff from WH is a lot better than mine which came out of the 1st bach off the boat, so they may have improved the design since mine.

If you like a kit I am a big fan of the aeroworks 29% edge, especially the new version with the airfoiled surfaces.

That fiber-lite looks cool, though I've never seen one fly.

Not true, not at all true!

Wild Hare is replacing our 84" Edge 540T which has been around a few years and was used as introduction to giant scale and 3d by hundreds of pilots, actually close to a thousand. It was a great plane, but lacked a few features.

The new one is the same 84" span, will sell for $429, add our hardware kit for $75 and you are right at that $500 mark.

This is a totally new airplane derived from our new and very succesful Extra 300. Improvements over the old one include 1.5 lbs. lighter, larger wing area with huge ailerons, wider cowl/fuse gives more room and allows use of a twin like 3w56b2. The h-stabs are moved forward a bit and that, along with a larger rudder, pretty much eliminate wing rocking. Tinted canopy and polished landing gear improve its looks, and the cowl ring mounting eliminates any visible fasteners on the cowl.

We retained the color scheme from the original as you can see. The new one also has an integrated canister tunnel which makes fitting a canister easier than mounting a muffler.

They will be here in a few weeks, the container is on the way.
