Probably one of the best IMAC planes I have flown in that size category. Not the best for 3D though. If you just want a 3D beast, this is not the plane for you. If you want an IMAC machine this is an awesome performer.

It's a pretty large airframe, and it is draggy, so anything below a 100cc will probably not be enough for those nice uplines.

I put literally hundreds of flights on mine. Like Vic says this is a very very good IMAC machine. I competed in Intermediate with mine here in Australia and I placed well in every comp I entered it in (1st or 2nd). Only ever beaten by another similarly powered Yak... if that says something.

This model has next to no coupling in highspeed flight, I think I had 3% elevator to rudder in one direction and nothing the other way. It slow's down beautifully on downlines and trimmed vertically very well.
For 3D it was pretty good at torque rolls and high alpha harrier rolls, but for upright harriers I was never able to get it to lock in nicely.

Its porky and draggy for a 100cc class model, I ran mine with a DA 100, initially with plain old mufflers. When I moved up to Intermediate I realised that combo didnt really have enough power for a good IMAC model.

I ended up running KS 1060 pipes on it, and they gave an awesome lift in power which is exactly what I needed for IMAC. If you arent planning on flying above sportsman in IMAC than you really dont need the pipes but if you are going higher up in the classes then you need to consider pipes or maybe one of the stronger running 100 class motors that are now available.
It is also important to baffle whatever motor you put in this thing, I noticed a 'gain' in power (ie less power drop from heat) once I baffled my motor tightly.

I am actually sorry I sold mine, however the boss (ie the missus) wouldnt let me have two big planes in the hangar at once, so when my super xtra arrived it had to go. Hope this helps you decision a bit. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Heres an example of just how popular this machine is for IMAC here in Australia.....

The big 3.3 yak in the foreground runs a ZDZ 210 with a full length muffler system and is one of the most awesomely capable IMAC machines I have ever seen.

Its still a great model. I wouldnt dismiss it just becasue you arent going to compete.
I loved flying mine, it does the nicest slow roll's point rolls and rollling circles too if you into that kind of flying.

Glad to see this discussion on the 100cc Yak. I'm torn between the Yak and the 2.6 Extra from Composite Arf. I will be flying one of them with a DA 100 on MTW cannisters. Has anyone flown both planes to compare them. Sorry, I will be flying IMAC with it.

From what I have flown, which is not that much. The extra is a much faster airplane and made me feel just rushed with it. But the yak is a slower presenting airplane and made me feel just really relaxed the entire time I was flying it.

I had both at the same time as Benny has stated, IMHO the extra is a touch better 3D (I am no 3D expert) the Yak has a slight edge in IMAC. HOWEVER, both planes are exceptional. Have since sold my Yak and replaced it with the 40% 260, which I was intending to fly at comp next week, but am suffering a few problems with it, so pulled out the 2.6 extra yesterday, which I have not flown for quite a while, and not flown sequences or competed with for a long time, and even compared to the 40%'r was very suprised how well it actually does perform.

Do you think this plane could do well with a ZDZ80 on a pipe and the right prop combo?

Oh ya and to answer your Q. I flew one at the youth masters its got to be the closest thing to and IMAC legal pattern plane you can get. I loved it and I have wanted one from the second I flew that one.

I will agree the Yak is a sweet plane anyone would be proud to own. If you have any questions about any of Composite-Arf's line up please ask away!

Just around the corner there will be another addition to the 100cc line up!

Check out Mark Trents video of his 2.6m Yak55sp http://www.composite-arf-world.com/c...ocs/budyak.wmv
