Guys I just bought a hacker super zoom 4d made from that EPP foam. It is around 16oz's flying weight with a 39" ws. I need to know what motor and esc would be a good combo. I plan on running a 3 cell 800 mah lipo on it. I dont understand the #'s that are put in the description of the electric motors yet. A 18amp esc is recommended but can I use a 25-35 amp esc? Those seem to be easier found. Thanks

Robc,
That is one plane you will not regret buying. I have gone through the Zoom Zoom, Zoom bipe, Extra Chaos, Pitts, and the Super Zoom, and always end up buying more than one coz they are so much fun. As for the setup, I have flown with the following motor/ESC combos, all work very well for 3D on the Super Zoom. Himax HC2812-1080 /brandless cheap china 18AESC Himax HC2816-1220 / Castle creations 25 Hyperion z3007-26/ Castle creations 25 All these setups used 1250mah 3cell Kokam lipo pack (15C), which is heavier than yours I use either APC10x3.8 or 11x3.8, experiment and see what your own preference is on props. The last two setups are awesome power, but won't be good for your battery, probably the 1080 motor or somethig similar would be good. Have fun By the way, these planes are good for at least 15 crashes, I have had days when the nose would break off completely and yet I would be flying within 5 mins. Worst/best?? was ehn i broke the nose off 4 times in one session LOL |

No problem. By the way, I suggest that you throw out the alum. wire that is used for reinforcement and replace with carbon rods, the reason being that the carbon will flex back into shape in a crash and be easier to repair, whereas the wire just flexes out and is a ***** to get back in place.
Your gonna love this plane |

ROBC,
If you have not bought the battery yet, I suggest a battery in the 1200-1300 mAh range and at least 15c discharge rate. |
