I been flying mine for years,I bought mine when all you could get is just the short kits,so how ever long that's been. But I haven't had any trouble with the carbon rods and glued on ends with JB Weld. You just have to ruff up the carbon rod and clean the inside of the threaded end with any type of degreaser.I fly mine hard enough to break the top rail of the fuse too.

Happy Birthday to your WW plane closetguy... you got it Nov 18, 2011.

The nicest thing about these kits is they last quite a long time, and even when I have had damage from hitting the ground, they are easy to repair.

The carbon rod with stainless capture ends works perfect when assembled correctly. That has been talked about in this thread. Also, the rudder control requires a stretch of just over 9 inch so a turnbuckle may not be the wisest choice there.

What about a 4-40 threaded rod with carbon around it.

Sure, re-invent the wheel if you want. You need to find someone with these on their plane and see for yourself. (until that time, you are working on conjecture)
What we use are quite robust... Other methods are whatever makes the PIC happy. Any of them can go wrong when improperly installed.

Thanks Rich,I flew it Saturday with the best engine that I had on it to date a
DJ 72. But that engine didn't last, only this summer so starting to look like a GP.
Are you going to do any EE 50 kits soon?

To each his own I guess, will just have to make the call when I build it. I just figured it would be a lot safer with the linkages screwed together instead of glued. Anyways, they look like fun planes for sure with a lot less stress to fly that a lot of my current planes.

LOL I've had the same concerns but it's that way with all composites. You just have to believe. I pulled on my pushrods as hard as I physically could with no failures. Actually not true, one failed but that was because I didn't use rubber bands to keep the ends from pushing back out due to air pressure.

I like how those leading edge pieces have the gusset plates and slots pre cut. I'm getting ready to scratch build a set of wings for my fusion ARF. Pro Bro Allen drew up a set of plans and even included all the different CAD files. That plane is going from 20cc to 30cc and it's getting about 250 sq/in of additional wing area along with 4 inches more span (74). Unfortunately other projects have me sidelined and there's no end in sight.
