Well I received my Dalton Thursday of this week, and have finally set about putting this together...
I was slightly surprised when I got my kit, Tony had said he had a special kit for me that was ARF, just a little glue and a few hours and this would be flight ready.... TONY if this is the ARF I'd hate to see the Builders kit!!! ![]() (* In case your slow, the above comment was a joke) After procuring the supplies needed on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, (Let me just say, Home Depot with 2 small children trying to buy a 60lb door while pushing them in a shopping cart at the same time is NOT FUN!!! )I set about trying to build this thing. I spent a good hour reading the instructions and eyeballing the parts, set up my building table smacked the planes down and set to work. I did get the 1" angle iron as Tony suggested, and I think this is a GREAT idea... hopefully even I can get a straight airplane out of it! Also... all the parts are cut so that they align perfectly.. really nice work besides sanding a bur here or there outstanding fit. So here are a few shots from Saturday night and tonight. Altogether so far, perhaps 4 hours into this build. Also, I slacked on taking pictures a bit because you start building on this plane and you remember to take a picture and you already added 4 parts!! ALSO, all you super experienced builders that live in a radius of 1 - 2 hours of me.. (Uncle JOE, J Mircle....) Don't think you will escape my phone calls and requests for help when it comes time to set the incidence and any other critical sections!!

Yea that part scares me as well. Thats why... I'm getting help with that!! Why mess something up.. when you can get help! I'm going to tackel the turtle deck... but all the flight surfaces I'll get help with. The rest of it.. I'm just pre-fitting... squaring 2 times and then gluing.. Hopefully this will produce a straight fuse to strap some wings to. Also, when it comes to the wing and stab incidence, I'll be getting a few eyeballs to make sure thats correct as well. Besides that, this build is FUN... only problem is... time flys when your doing this plane. I finally got down to the shop around 9:50 last night... started working and before I had time to think it was 12:30am.... I mean it seemed like 5 minutes had passed... This is going to put a dampener on my mood at work... 5 (-) hours of sleep a night is gonna be a ruff one. But oh well.. gotta suffer for the cause!! EARN this plane!

I'm going to slap in a DA-100 (seen on shelf in back of picture) and some 5955's all around. Smart fly power expander, and kill switch, Fromeco lition's and regs... Need to decide on: Hardware and.... I'm trying to decide what cans and headers to slap on... I know that I don't want to be "THAT GUY" with this plane. All my other planes have stock mufflers on them, (no noise issues at my home field) but when going to events for once I'd rather not be the noise guy Biff makes a reference to...

Sleepy, just use reg. muff's and run a PT Models 2 blade prop. I've got a 27" on my 106. And you heard how it doesn't RIP. It is actually pretty quiet!!!
Build is cool so far!!! Just don't screw it up!!!

Do yourself a favor.......
set the plane up for cans now, while your building. Then if you ever decide to put cans in or decide to sell it to some one who wants cans.
