Default Great day at the field

Sat was one of the best days flying I have ever had in my 20 years of this great hobby. My son Jacob turned 4 the 6th of this month. He has been flying AFPD for a year and doing well. He is nowhere near landing but does pretty good flying around.
The pictures speak for themselves. He was so happy to have his airplane at the field. I was so proud to have my " Big guy" training on the buddy box. We only managed one flight due to engine problems but it was still a great day

He loves the site and the videos

and a special thanks to Propstriker for taking the pic !!

That's what it's all about Brian! Tell Jacob we're all very proud to see him out there flying. Can't wait to see him solo for the first time! As any father will tell you, it's far better to see your son fly a trainer in a circle than you winning the TOC. Too cool my friend!

Jacob,
That sure is a nice airplane. Looks like you have thing's under control.

Brian,
This bring's back so many great memories. My son Alex was the same way at 4 years old. Now he is 9 and he still has the same drive. He loves to fly and show his abilities to anyone who will watch. Alex just completed his first season of IMAC. He even had a couple of third place finishes. His new goal is to master Mark Leesburgs rolling S maneuver. He loves freestyle flying.

You have a lot to look forword to.

Thanks for being a great DAD!

That's awesome! What Biff said is so true! If I never flew again, it wouldn't matter as long as I could continue to share this hobby with my sons. There's nothing like it in the whole world.

My 7 year old son soloed my Big Stik 40 last year, putting up 4 solos in a row with perfect landings. The smile on my face and thrill in my heart was greater than anything I have ever experienced - possibly even my wedding day!

It's such a safe hobby, too! Better than those Dirt Bikes and Quads that eventually tend to get someone hurt.

Great job and please post some more pics when you can of you and your son and any future flights!

Hats off to you and your son!!!!!

Thanks fellas.. I think I have a flying buddy for life. There are sometimes he dosent want to go ( less thank 1%) but thats ok... I always let being a kid come first. He has been to several fly-in's and loves to go with me to the shop. He's daddys boy..

I know what your saying Biff.. I love to fly and love my toys but now its more about him than myself

He is also a big fan of Mat Chapman. Matt signed one of his Lycoming posters to Jacob when I was at the nall a few years ago and he has it framed on his wall. I hope he is at the Nall next year.. Jacob would love to meet him

Hey Brian!! Had a blast watching you and Jacob...cherish it, time has a bad habit of passing too quickly.
I predict he'll be flying rolling circles around his S.A.P. Dad before long!

This is just to cool Brian, I love to see new people learn to love the hobby, but when it's your own kid, nothing is sweeter.
Looks like he's well on his way to showing up us ol farts pretty soon........thanks just what we needed!..........lol

The best thing is too see you and your son bonding together, and someone else I think already said it but, "Thanks for being a GREAT dad!"

Enjoy it, I'm jealous!

Very cool Brian! I too am in the process of teaching my son Jacob, who is 9, to fly and it is so awesome to see them enjoy flying. I must agree there is no greater joy than to share the hobby with your children and see them succeed at it.

I must disagree with the following comment however:

As someone who has raced bikes and shared riding with my son and it is still a sport that is very dear to me I have to voice my opinion. Motorcycle's are no more dangerous than other sports when safety is first and the riders are well educated. My son has been on a mtorcycle since he was four and I've been blessed to share riding with him. 4 wheeler's on the other hand......no,no, just kidding.

Back on topic.... I can't wait until my son can solo, I've promised to let him try taking off next time we go to the field.......

Anyway, enough rambling..........I know I've experianced the kind of day Brian is talking about and all I can say is that day's like that are truly memorable.
