Default tl3's Carden 300 prototype

With VaTechguy’s frame-up outta the way, it’s time to get cruising on my 300 prototype build. First, thanks where it is due – Carden aircraft for allowing me the opportunity to do this project, Dennis and Caroline - class acts all the way.
I won’t post pics of every stage during the build, but rather try to show areas that indicate some methodology of the process. (Plus, working with dial-up here) If anyone is interested in one, I’ll burn a CD of all the shots upon completion.

To date, all the foam has been skinned, and the fun part has just begun – fuse construction.

A few shots of wing skinning: I prefer to prefab the skins, edge gluing with Titebond (as opposed to taping the seams and allowing the poly glue to fill in any spaces). I find I get a better quality surface, and there is much less sanding to be done on the wing after skinning.

The Hanson clamp – easier on the back, and less expensive than 2000 lbs of brick.

TL3, looks good. I like the clamp! Seems like EVERYONE is building a Carden 300 "prototype" these days! Good luck with it. Craig

Ah much better, to put it in Geffonese . . . some stuff with other stuff. Sorry Jesky, I cannot explain it

Sorry for the pic quality . . . I have to size them done quite a bit in order for the upload time to be anything close to reasonable.

Motor box sides after lightening – 7.2 oz removed – more can be had, but the Super 160 is a bit lighter than a DA, so I don’t want to go too far.

Thanks CBK . . . the clamp works great and can be adjusted for the size of the core being clamped by simply adding or subtracting bars. Each bolt point has a spring rated at 345 lbs (coil bound) which allows some measure of how much pressure is being used.
There are five 300 prototypes being built, and Dennis is taking pre-orders for the first production run.

Motor box – with sticky stuff holding it together. The gear plate will be lightened further when I decide what canisters I’ll be using.
