Default Smoke Tank size??

Yesterday I maidened my 3M composite Extra and messed with the smoke system afterwards.
I had made my own smoke concoction of corvus, kerosine and transmission fluid, since there are no hobby shops down here.
First of all....."Christ all mighty what a mess"
Secondly my 24oz tank lasted maybe 3 minutes....
I probably don't have the flow adjusted right but,
What is a normal size tank for smoke fluid??
Thanks.
JR

Default Re: Smoke Tank size??

Usually you look for the bigest tank you can fit in there. As far as the flow goes I think about 5 oz / minute is a good rate. any more than that and you cool the mufflers too much and do not get much smoke and all the unburned oil ends up on your plane. Super dri smoke oil is what I have used and it seems to be the best. I think if you lower your injection rate you will get better results with a little less mess.
