I see.... I've been using an adapter similar to this. They screw right into the top of a Createx bottle. Makes changing paints a little quicker.
What are you thinning the Tamiya paint with? |

I will finish up the painting tonight. All I have left is the red stripes on the wing left to do. The video probably won't be ready for a week or so.

Great helpful hints Craig!
I'll add a little to your cleaning suggestion- Stan Watkins taught me to use 'Fantastic' cleaning solution(available at the grocery store) mixed 50/50 with water to clean my brush. I keep a bottle full of it with an adapter top, and spray it through the brush after each color. Makes cleanup or changing colors quick. I'm not sure about the Fantastic's ability to be mixed with the Tamiya Acrylics though...... I also thin Createx paint with this solution....... Soooooo very true about the heat gun! |

Here is how I did the red stripe on the wing
1. Lay the template down 1/4" from the blue. 2. Weigh down the template. 3. Cover up the blue with the other side of the template and weigh down. 4. Paint the red. 5. Hit with the heat gun. 6. Remove the template. |

Here is the bottom of the wing.
1. Cut out 3" pieces of depron. 2. Put one piece at the end of the wing. 3. Space the next one 3" apart. 4. Space the last one 3" apart. 5. Weigh dwon the depron. 6. Paint red. 7. Hit with the heat gun. 8. Remove the templates. 9. Repeat for the other side. |

Same concept for the elevator. I used 2" pieces instead of the 3".

Well that should cover it. This method is a little different. I just wanted to show that you can paint a foamy easily with basic materials using only depron as the mask. Plus I got sick of seeing Wayne with white airplanes.
If you can cut a straight line, you should be able to paint one just like it. I am no means an artist. If anyone has any questions please ask. Here is another one I did a few weeks ago. |
