Default rolling circles in and out

This is or the pros or anyone who knows. I can do rolling circles both to the inside of the circle and out but im much smoother and more precise when i roll to the outside of the circle. is this common because i see even quique is a little bit sloppier to the inside than he is to the out.

by in and out i mean the direction of roll to the direction of circle

outside circle to right means your rolling left get it

For me this is the same way - mine looks smoother rolling outside than in . . .

I think you did - learning - the rolling circles "out" before "in" , for that you better with "out" , you should be practice more with "in"

Your right about outside rolls seem to be easier for most. But I think the only cure is more gas and practice. Other than that I don't have a clue as why inside rollers are more difficult.

Inside rollers are often more difficult for people than outside because on an outside roller, you can lead in with the rudder early. Meaning, if you are rolling right, turning left, you can apply left rudder early, which helps you steer in the direction of your radius. Now, as you roll onto KE, you already have the correct top rudder input to follow through. You tend to let off the rudder a little early coming out, but this is compensated with the down elevator, maintaining altitude as well as maintaining you direction of turn.
On an inside roller, you can lead in with your rudder inputs early because you will work against the way you are trying to turn. I tend to lead in early with the elevator to maintain altitude. For example, turning left, rolling left, as I roll left, I lead in with some elevator to maintain the turn, slowly easing in rudder so that I achieve top rudder in KE. From this point, you can trail out late with the rudder because it is going to help you continue your radius while also feeding in down elevator to maintain altitude in inverted flight, then continuing that same sequence on from there. I think most people will tend to roll out better than in because you can lead in early with rudder. I know that I personally, find inward rollers more difficult. I spent alot of fuel working on my inward rollers for IMAC. I was extremely rough with them at the beginning of this season and have become alot more comfortable with alot of practice.... and thats the key to learning them, burn as much fuel as you can, be disciplined, and really try to understand what the airplane is doing in each attitude as it goes through the circle. Take out your stick plane and fly through it a few times, and you will begin to see what you need to do, why, and most importantly, when.

the way i learned to smooth out my inside rollers is lead with rudder and hold it and get on the elevator to keep the altitude. the radius will suck bad, but as you get use to it, start taking out rudder and elevatorto keep the radius. also when on KE dont pull to hard, once you learn what a true 45 deg out looks like, you will probably realise that you are pulling to hard. i see that a lot when people are learning to do rollers. it also helps if you have someone who knows how to do them well, stand behind you when you fly and give a judges explanation. as tank said, get lots of gas and go fly. i spent many flights doing nothing but rollers, in a figure 8 pattern, from up right and inverted. good luck.

Try keeping in the rudder from knife till inverted while doing an inside roller. the big difference in with an outside you lead with the rudder and an inside you finish with the rudder if that makes any sense. For practice take a look at the roller in this years Unlimited sequence.

Maybe its too hard for me because i have a rather high rollrate and it is hard to keep it constant. what sort of aileron throw do you guys use

Hey Jon,

I use different rates on my rollers. I set my third rate position for the speed I want to roll, then adjust the El so I have some leway on the stick ,and the rudder I use the rate that allows the use of rudder without being overly sensitive, but has enough to get the job done. But the biggest and most important is the practice. Impatience WILL work againt you. IMO, trying different rates will help, then after you learn to master it, you can adjust to using higher rates again.

well i fly mode 1 and my inside rollers look really good but my outside rollers leave something to be desired. maybe its a mode thing?

Thats strange because on mode 1 all you have to do is roll the stick and they should come around perfect everytime. maybe change you rythem and make it a little faster on the stick to the outside. just my 4 cents
