I am sure that many of you flyers have been asked by newcomers to the hobby about what kind of plane to begin with.
My little brother has a teacher whose dad loves flying full scale, he is certified for large jets. This teacher has seen me fly my gasser for some lower grades at the school and she was very interested. Christmas is coming up and she wants to spend no more than $200 on an airplane for her nephew and dad to build and fly together. They will primarily be flying at a golf Corse so larger is probably better and since the plane is around $200 it would have to be electric. She wants an airplane that could be assembled in no more than a couple of evenings. The airplane needs to come with everything needed to fly, minus glue and other household items. I have several ideas, that aero bird brand, horizon's electrics, and I am sure there are others at places like towerhobbies and hobby-lobby. But I want to know what you all would recommend. What do you think would be the best airplane around $200 for an experienced full scale pilot? I have no experience with these small electric airplanes and need some advice. Thanks in advance! |

go with a T-ifo from wild rc or a slowstick. Both are perfect for beginners.

I'm with yakwrecker on this one.
The Easystar is a great beginner plane. It basically snaps together, no building skills needed, and is a motor glider so half the time the motor's off and you're just floating around extending your flying time. It's also made out of a really tough foam that takes a lot of abuse. Hobby Lobby sells the whole package, (transmitter, battery, charger etc.) for $259. |
