Default PT Prop

Wife of flyer here needing some help. My husband had a 30/12 pt prop a month or so ago and he loved it. I loved the sound that it gave the plane. The trouble was that he noticed one day that it was coming apart at the front edge. I know that others had the same trouble. I am wondering if they have addressed this issue and if they are ok now. He wants to try another one but is a bit hesitant. I thought that I would throw one in his stocking for christmas. But I do not want to give him something that could come apart and crash the plane. You guys with hobbies like this are so hard to buy for, can't just run to the mall and buy a set of servo's. LOL Also, where is the best place for me to buy one. He wants a 32/10 this time.
Thanks in advance for any info.

I got my money back and bought a Mejzlik after mine de-laminated.
Its a known problem with them. Why risk an expensive plane?

PT model props ROCK! I got one of the new ones for my 3W 106. After many flights on an NX 27x10, I decided to go carbon, and I got a 27x10 PT prop. It rocks! I have to lower my throttle curve more now because im getting much more low end torque than before.

The PT spins 100 rpms less on my 106 than the NX but pulls MUCH harder. Now my 28 lbs. plane literally rockets out of a hover.

Razor you were right!

I have several (including a 32x10) and have never had any issues with them. You can order them from www.troybuiltmodels.com. Helluva stocking stuffer!

As everyone else has stated they have resolved the problems. If you bought it through Troybuilt the will replace it with a new one no questions asked. I was aslo hesitant about replacing it with another one but I have had no issues with the new one. I was also told that they have not had one completly blow apart and take out any planes. Just the edges delaminating and everyone has caught it before it became catastrophic. I like these props alot. and even the new ones are about 1/2 the weight of a menz wood prop and much lighter than a mejlik making them spool up much faster.

27x10 on a 106 ?????

Vic, what RPM are you getting then ?? I have the 27x10 on a 3W 70 and full length KS tune pipe and getting 5800 rpm.

I'm going to put a 28x10 on my new 3W 80 with a BMB canister.

Thank you all for the info. I am going to call troybuilt today and get it on the way. I think that Gene is the one that he normally talks to there, I have herd his name before I think. I am really glad that they have fixed this issue. I do not know much about this but I know that he really licked the prop and I totally liked the way it makes the plane sound. It has more of a throaty sound that just sounds great. Again Thanks guys and if I ever need help again I know where to go.
