HHHmmmm......I dunno........for $200.00 it doesn't look all that bad to me. The actuall construction looks pretty good. I'd go through and check and the joints if they are glued up right , maybe do a little re-enforcement on a few things if it need it , make sure all the covering is gonna stay on (as long as possible)....and treat it like any other ARF..........fly the crap out of it. I think it looks good for the price , i might end up getting one just because.

Deal or no deal, ugly or pretty. Just taking a shot or can't afford much more. This thread will be very interesting to watch. I hope more is shown and we get to see the maiden. I do admit , I hate to see a manufacturer design their product just to get out the door. I think they hope the buyer will figure things out on their own. That landing gear looks like a "good enough" solution to a budget issue back at head quarters. Makes you wonder what other not so obvious sacrfices were made.Hope it doesn't cost this kid a shot at flying something a little larger and having a positive experience. I'd hate to see somebody disheartened
Good luck, keep us posted |

I tried to express earlier that I am building the plane with the intentions of re using the equipment. Good digital servos...good engine...etc. I'm not new to flying. If you're concerned about the newbie quitting the hobby because of a crappy plane, thats not me.

Looks like like a similar type landing gear setup as the comp-arf yak. It might hold up.

The LG is really not as bad as it looks. The gear is glued to double ply mounts at two points (where it enters the side of the fuselage, and again at the top)
I am much more concerned about the strength of the fuselage sides where the wing tube enters and also the spar structure in the wings. I will be reinforcing both. Come on. This plane costs a THIRD of what most 50cc aircraft do. I never expected them to ship me an ultrarc - aeroworks - carden - dalton - whatever. I'm going to fix what is necessary and enjoy my crappy / weak / hideous / (insert demeaning adjective here) aircraft.

Have you weighed the parts ? Just wondering if it's gonna come in at the 13lbs that they claim (chuckle, chuckle)

this is the model i bought from rc-league for 165$
this model is of good quality and i dont think money should be the only criteria, for good quality. and it includes all the hardware, i hope no body should feel offended by this 98% of ARF's are made in China because they get 8$ an hour in the factories which make ARF. my friend bought the aerotech Yak 54 and i bought Yak 54 from RC-league and it included carbon fiber LG and wing tube, whereas the Aertotech had aluminium. the quality of both of them was equal. i paid $200 with all hardware included (i had to replace the tank with a bigger one)whereas he paid a lot more then that with less hardware. in a few days i would post pics for my Yak54...then all of you can decide |
