At R/C Blimp we have been doing custom builds as well as manufacture our product line. What I would need to know is how many colors, what material, a drawing of what you want and if paint would be included.

It would be three colors. Yellow, black, silver. I am doing the red bull scheme but with black substited as the blue. I have attempted the whole plane but it turned out messy. You can do the paint to but not if it costs more than 160.

Paint is the most expensive part of covering an airplane. We only shoot Dupont and we can have over $200 in paint with no labor.

For a covering job of that size airplane and 3 colors you are looking at about 750.00. Add the paint and you are up to 1000.00. From your last post you will probibly think this is too much but when you figure that a 40% covering job will take roughly 30 hrs and the cost of paint ( Dupont ) is about 60.00 per quart I think most will find my quote reasonable. Pictured is my old CA 300L that when the picture was taken the covering was well over a year old.

My covering jobs on 40% planes start at 1000.00 and go up from there. Most builders that I have talked to are around the same price.

Tony,

Is that quote inclusive of all covering or is that the labor cost?

I would pay a 1000 if it coverd shipping. If it didnt then I could buy an arf and have an engine and servos for the cost of that. Any ways again is that the price for just labor. If so I will buy the covering. I already have a paint deal for 160 so that is not included.

My quote of 750.00 would be labor only with you supplying the covering. Freight on a 40% using forward air is 200.00-250.00 depending on where you are.

How is that???? What service do I use??? If this is true I would have a much different veiw! I was thinking it would be expensive because I shipped a 40 size glow plane one time and it cost 150 for standard ups. I think I got scammed. Does the price include the shipping??? If so I will consider.

Shipping is always taken care of by the costomer, the 750.00 is for the covering labor only. Forward Air is a freight company that is quite inexpensive because you take the crate directly to their hub facility. in my case I would pick it up and then drop it off when finished in SF 50 miles away.

Shawn is about right on the price.......I had a 35% covered a few years back from a friend. 1 color......it cost me $230 + supplies. He did paint my parts free, but I supplied the paint.

I have seen Shawn's extra that he pictured and the covering job was top notch, one of the best that I have seen, you don't get quality like his on an arf that I am aware of.
