Bad-ass Super Contributer!
![]() |
I have been trying to contact Mr. Lee but I haven't gotten any response as of yet. Do you guys know what his username on here is? Also Western hobbies is no longer going to carry these planes. Also Powerline hobbies already dropped this line of planes too. I really wanted on e of these but now it isn't going to happen it looks like. Unless you guys know of some-one else that is handling these in the USA.I did get a reply from Mr. Lee and the shipping to me in the US would be $500-OUCH!!! I'm not going to buy the plane for 175 dollars and then spen 500 on shipping. I hope to find a US distributor for these planes that won't gouge me because I know what the kit actually cost's them from rc league.

Mr. Lee,
Nice looking parts. They should solve all of the issues. Let us know when you have a distributer in the U.S.. I will post the info on the Electric version soon. Pictures too! -STEVE- |

Well - I had my hands on a couple of the composite YAK-54! This is what I found:
Wings not same width (wing cord at the tip is off by 1/3") Hings not alligned very well on any control-surfaces (and iron rods used as hinges) No control surface is the same Around 2 punds heavier than suggested Canopy and frame really bad quality (needs a complete re-design) Fuselage shows serious signs of heavy sanding Too many dents in fiberglass Ribs and bulkheads not glued well (epoxy with too many microballons) No instruction manual No information about C/G and engine allignment Even without any exact C/G it is clear that this bird is more than tail-heavy (even with a heavy almost 4 pound 3W up front) This is my "short edition" - feel free to ask for more details. I also have a lot of photos to show if anyone should care. Most problems could be solved in assembly - but RC League says: quality is almost as high as Composite ARF (a quote)... Composite ARF do also have a few problems with quality now and then but nothing like the RC League composite. I accept any problems - and for a new manufacturer I will also accept a little more... but I do expect a plane to fly straigt and that serious problems are fixed by replacing parts not up to spec. I hope RC League will eventually look into the issues and come up with a plan - and it should be easy as most is related to assembly. Until that I fly something else... Xtreme Composite, Composite ARF or whatever does fly straight... Not evetyting is bad - in general the fiberglass work on the wings look good, most of the hardware is good and the lines of the model are nice too. For the planes I have their is no hope - RC League believe my planes are fine and have decided not to do anything about it. And their are simply too many things to fix for a do-it-yourself job... Too bad - it could have been a nice (though a little heavy) model for everyday use... Pete Last edited by baerentp; 04-21-2007 at 05:17 AM. |

I lost my RC league Yak54
http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...gue-yak54.html I was thinking of getting a comp Yak54 from RCleague, but I think the technology they have needs to mature and after getting your feed back it is decided..... no more of it till they improve the design and quality Mr Pete please post some pics of the problem areas and also send them to Mr Lee in Rcleague, he is a good guy may be he improves his design regards Abdullah

I just recently purchased one on the league yaks and noticed how long ago you all have flown the planes. I am excited about the new plane of mine but haven't shared the same "customer service" that you guys have. I have tried Mr. Lee twice now and haven't heard any response from him. I assumed that the hardware upgrades and wing tube problems that he discussed with you all would have been upgraded in my kit but have not. For a plane that flys so well, it would be a shame for all the us suppliers to give up on it so soon..... Or maybe it's league that has left the building........ no pun intended. I'm here right now and I would love to be able to give props to Mr. Lee for some customer service........ Any other league owners out there?

Thank you for the fast reply Mr. Lee. Here's the upgraded hardware that you posted in post # 152 and I have the old hardware with no cap screws. I also dont have any of the plywood pieces for the servos as shown on page 4 of the manual. Also have you changed the aluminum wing tube to carbon fiber? thanks again

Well I am just building my Yak in the black and yellow. It is going to be powered by a DL50 and I have 5985s all around except a 5955 on the rudder. I am modifying it to have a KS cannister in the fuze and planning to use most of the stock hardware. Here are a few pics of the build so far.
More to follow later. If it flies half as good as it looks I will be well pleased.

Thanks!
mmmm... looks nice! Does the KS cannister do a lot of diffrence compared to the stock DL-50 muffler? Noice level is irrelevant to me, but the power? |
