The Genuity color scheme version of this YAK is a pretty close rendition of the YAK flown by Eric Beard in air shows for years. He was known by the name of "Russian Thunder". Unfortunately he was killed in an air crash (not in the yAK) earlier this year.

The real YAKs are a little ugly to some, but in a bulldog you gotta love kind of way. I kind of like them myself. The gear and everything else on this model copy Eric Beards plane. Here is a link to more info on him for those who are interested:

And a picture of the full sized plane

No I sure havent seen it fly, but the kit looks good, and for the price it is the best deal out there that I know of..I have flown the Extra 300 and it is pretty good, also a league model...

Smoky,
Mine was about $200 landed as part of a group buy. I then upgraded to the carbon set for another $30. Earlier in the post I read that if you order direct from
Jianchun lee the cost is similar. I bought a 2 gal old used DA-50 with Pitts muffler, prop and spinner for $550 and all the servos for another $325. So I will be in the whole plane for around $1,125. Not too bad if it flys good.

Rocky,
I was looking for flight reports because every plane does thing a little different. During the build, I checked the incidences with my Robart meter and they are spot on. In fact everything on the plane is built very straight, better than many ARFs I have seen. The plane is probably designed more to scale than some of the current YAKs on the market. It has a realatively big fuse, which I expect will help slow the down lines. I like that, but hope the plane doesn't feel like it has too much drag in the air. It also has a slightly shorter tail moment than most of the very stretched models on the market like the QQ and Extreme Flight YAKs. If built to the same proportions as my EF YAK the plane would be about 2.5" longer from the rear of the wings to the front of the stab. Definately IMAC legal and should be great for 3-D. I'm hoping it won't affect tracking too much.

I recieved an e-mail from Jianchun Lee this morning with a technical bullitin advising that I check the glue on the rear stab alignment pins. Mine seemed to be done right but I added some glue for saftey. How about China prices with good support. Not the typical experience I'm told. RCLeague seems to be good company.

Do you think this thing can handle a ZDZ 80 single? I got one handy. Can't beat $200 for this size plane.

Is it the camera or does the cowl look like it was spray painted?

ANd I'm not doggin the plane, for the price it looks killer... but I can't figure out if the cowl looks weird or if its just the pictures.
