What is the cheapest way to get one of these beaters??? Looks like a good throw away, something to train the gas newbies at my field.

LookNatU2,
This is a very large plane for a 50cc. The manual gives an even bigger wing area of 1488sq in. But every measurement in the manual seems a little off. Here is a link to the English manual http://www.rcleague.com.cn/UploadFil...e%20Manual.pdf.

Mine is built and the wing spann is just short of 87" , the overall length is 74". I am struggling now to get some weight off. Mine is very heavy at 17lbs 4oz dry. I would like to get it to about 16lbs 8oz befor I fly it. It may be possible with Carbon wing tubes and landing gear. Don't bother with the carbon option package from RCLeague. Mine arrived yesterday and it is not much lighter than stock. They advertise that it weighs 0.55lbs but it actually weighed a full pound and was poorly finished. Waste of money. Looks like a mixture of glass and carbon to me. I will try some properly made U.S. carbon stuff.

A friend of mine has one of these, it is identical in every way except the name. This is the same plane that Powerline Hobbies is importing. The plane flies great with a DA50R, it comes in at about 18.2 lbs with the DA and a 4400 Mah li-ion on the receiver and a 2200 on the ignition and metal gear servos. The fire wall needs some triangle stock put in prior to installing the engine to prevent it from coming apart with vibration, but not a major problem. The counter balance on the rudder is deffinately not needed as it has excellent rudder authority, however the ailerons are held away from the fuselage more than most models so it requires quite alot of throw to hold the torque roll at the start of the hover. Overall the plane is a great flier, very nice down lines, very stable in harriers, knife edge, flat spins (right side up or vertical). Probably the two worst points to the kit (other than the cowl colors dont match the covering) are !.) the wing tube could stand to be bigger (it is approximately 1 1/4") and 2.) the stab mounting method (drill and tap the stab tube then install allen screws) gets a little weak with alot of flying.

For the money it is great, for a little more money its still great. Flies like a high end model.

main gears bent,
Glad to get a report from someone who has actually seen one of these fly. Sounds like a good flying plane. 18.2 pounds is at the upper end of what DA recomends for the DA-50R, but from your report it sounds like it has the needed power to fly this plane well. I really like lighter flying planes so maybe I focus on weight a little too much. I haven't even flown mine yet so maybe the mods I am making are not needed. Still a 16 1/2 pound plane should fly even better.

Atique, have you flown yours yet? Come on its time for a flight report.

Jared,
I do want to see the video but the site you have them on wants to charge almost $10.00 to see it. Why not put it on one of the free video hosting sites?
