Here's a video from last Friday - taking a "1st timer" for an aeros ride in a Pitts. He's wearing my headset / headcam setup in the front seat. All preflight checks OK we launch and climb to 3500' just North of the airfield. Final pre aerobatic check is to roll inverted and check oil pressure / fuel systems and no loose objects.

It did not go to plan ..............

I've been trying to improve my flick roll technique of late. Every so often I hit a good one - but it's not consistent. Soooo, I've made a little film to help reinforce what it should look like to help me remember.

The current "recipe" is

-Set full power and climb 45 deg to drop airspeed to 85mph
-Level off and allow to accelerate to 100mph
-Rapid tug of up elevator to give about 2.5g,
-At the exact moment the G peaks bang in about 70% left rudder
-When the aeroplane "breaks" Unload to 80% fwd stick / 70% left aileron
-Keep the rudder in until 3/4 complete (I often fail here !)
-Change feet, then , a little more fwd stick (like a mini punch) then back to neutral to stop

This is what it looks like. (still slightly over rotated and a slight L/H heading change - but at least there's a fair "snap" to the rotation)

Actually, Not. (The photo's upside down)

Quite a good optical illusion though methinks

Well, yet again it's that time of year.

2015 has been fantastic for me. My first visit to Oshkosh, my first complete aircraft build finished (and flown). Numerous "once in a lifetime" views of the world from the air, 6 or 7 films (I even seem to have finally seem gotten to grips with Premier Elements at long last !)

Anyway, here it is - 150 flying hours shoe horned into 4 minutes

I really do hope you enjoy watching it

A young chap I met at the UK R/C Nats a year or two back is now doing a media course and needed to make a mini documentary as a course assignment.

Here's the result. Hopefully worth a watch for a few minutes.

(how many of you can identify with the "plane on a stick" comments ? ..... can't believe I was the only one )

Some pretty much "raw" footage of my initial attempts at Aerobatics in my new RV-6

Quite a contrast to the Pitts, much faster speeds and more height gain / loss within each figure - but actually quite satisfying to fly.

I really enjoyed the bit at the end playing in the clouds. The extra speed over my Pitts makes for a more dynamic feel to this particular experience.

Anyway, hope you like it (but please don't expect any elaborate editing / multi camera angles - this is "as is", 1 angle / take and some music added.)

A re-edit of my last film of Wales. Some colour correction and re editing to make as watchable as poss rather than just a "holiday" video.

A quick film of our annual "Pitts Artists" expedition. This year it was to Swansea.

There's 2 x S1-S, 1 X S1-T and Eagle and a Cub (The Cap 232 went Tec with brake issues).

Taken the weekend after our BMFA R/C nationals here in the England, there's a fairly "chilled" vibe for 3 mins 43 sec.

Hope you like it

There's a password - "RC"

Taken with a Gopro on Multiplex Easystar. Shame the air was a little bumpy, but we managed to get the aircraft in frame every time and to (very nearly) stick to the safety brief.

I got some really good "flyover" shots that Im saving for my year end video edit

Spitfire at Sibson V4 (4 min 18 sec)

A real shame, I know it's not "real" but it did look lovely in the air.

RV-6 Spin testing (0 min 22 sec)

Intentional Spins in an RV-6 are not allowed here in the UK (other than for flight test purposes with an approved Test Pilot.)

So, not me doing the flying - And RESPECT to the chap who did this for me.

Screen shot lifted from some film I took last winter, I only noticed the optical illusion yesterday.

Quite dramatic methinks ;-)

Almost the end of the winter here in England, So I thought I'd better get my editing done before the real fun starts again.

Fairly laid back this time, almost no aeros. Hopefully a nice "vibe" though and lots of interesting summer / winter things happening in the landscape

Hope you like it
