Well it flew....and flew well! Let's just hope the landing gear modification is strong enough.

Well after a year+ assembling, sanding, glassing, more sanding my P-47 TF Giant Scale took to the air.

Sierra Retracts required a total remake of the gear section of the beautifully sheeted wing. That took a lot of time measuring, and remeasuring - and I think it worked out.

That was after I found out you can't fit the retract unit into the wing.

I don't know how many coats of primer was applied - I do like sanding -wet sanding that is. The wing came out like a starved horse.

After glassing the entire plane, panel lines were added as was rivets - too many to count. Used revets from Chad Veich - an excellent product. Also added 'panels' here and there from him.

Tried Klass Kote for paint...tried new spray gun - didn't come out too well, so much of the silver was sanded off leaving a nice primer look. That left a nice war weary aircraft that was flown by the Mexican Air Force in the 50's.

Used a DLE55 up front and it pulls the plane around just fine. Not too fast, not underpowered at all.

Well, it flies.....and flies well! And yes, the smoke pump/muffler work!

Decided to fix up my 10+ year old H9 P-47 150 that met the ground after a flame out during a Warbird Gaggle at the Warbirds Over The Rockies last year....fuse bottom was crushed a bit. Decided to go with a smoke system now that the bottom was opened up. Replacing the Evolution 26 with another Evolution, this time their 45.

Ran the engine (new DLE35RA) for about a 1/2 tank of gas....using an 18/6 prop I was getting 1600 RPM at idle and 8350 wide open. Had to adjust the needle (low end) just a hair and she purrs....

Found out the replacement tires/wheels (Robart) were flat - too much weight on her I guess so they are being replaced by some Dubro 4" threaded.

Here are some shots of what I thought was enough clearance for the stock muffler, and some of the cowl after installing a smoke muffler.

Received the smoke muffler and that required some additional material to be removed from the bottom of the cowl.

While waiting on a smoke muffler I have been playing with the flaps, mounting the cowl/spinner, etc.

If I wasn't 'waiting', this bird would be airborne by now!

This ARF has really impressed me! If I were in a hurry, this bird could be flying in much less than a week! But I'm taking my time....the parts fit, assembly is quick, instructions clear. What more could someone ask?

Enough room in that fuselage to built a boat! Therefore some smoke will be added to the project.

Fixed up my buddy's wing and cowl after a flame-out right at the end of the runway. New wing and cowl...

Repairing a plane for a friend.....converting from and electric to a DLE35.

Finished up the 40 sized Dragon Lady and have started on the 30cc RV-8 from Slipstream.

For some strange reason, the wife said I have too many airplanes....but I said she has too many dresses and things went downhill fast....I hope to recover sometime in the 21st Century...seriously, I am slowly thinning the fleet because I am letting more and more newbies fly my planes Planted a nice 'trainer' (World Model's Sport Wing 90) by letting a newbie get too low and of course dumb thumbs can put even the Doghouse into the ground...oh well, I keep working on new planes

Fixed up a Butterfly for the club trainer - now what a trainer that bird is....even newbies can avoid the ground with that one

This retired life isn't so bad....I get to fly 3-4 times a week, sleep in on other days and build as much as I want....now that the Garage is clean Well part of it anyway >g>.
