About Temptation

Biography: I have been flying r/c airplanes since the summer of 1988. My Dad originally got me into the hobby to keep me out of trouble. We did not have much money when I was a kid. This meant any new plane to me was used or crashed plane from somebody else. I would take other peoples crashed or worn out planes home and rebuild them the best I could. I was very happy to have what I did at that time. I was not able get a new to me plane until I had finished school and got my first real job. From 1988 to 1999 flew mainly trainer planes and intermediate type planes. During that time I also only flew at my local club (Eastwings). In 1999 things started to change. I always wanted to fly pattern because my flight instructer Terry Williams flew pattern. I thought very highly of him and wanted to do what he did. I did not even know what pattern was, but I knew that I wanted to find out. In 1999 I went to a airplane swap meet and found a 2 meter Nova 2+2 pattern plane. I purchased the airframe only for $600.00. I got home and started ordering everything I needed to get it in the air. I did not know what to do with this plane, so I just took it out to my local club to fly. It just so happens that Sam Montelone was there and told me that I needed to go to an upcoming pattern primer. This would show me what pattern was and what to do. I went to the pattern primer at the Signal Seekers club, that was put on by Bob Kan and Tim Jesky. This is when my friendship with Andrew Jesky began. Andrew (Stump) at that time pretty much took me under his wing. From there I have been to just about every pattern contest in District 4 since. I have moved up through the ranks and am currently flying Advanced pattern and will soon be moving up to Masters. In 2006 I purchased a 40% Carden Cap 232 from Pete Collinson. I did some much needed maintance to the Cap and added cans to it. I put about 50 flights on it before the season ended. At the end of the season I decided to stip the plane and recover it in my color scheme. This project snowballed into a major rebuild, updating everyting in the airframe. I have not flown in an IMAC contest yet buy I plan to soon. While all of this progression has been going on I got married to Cindy and we had a son Elliott. Now I am working a ton of hours and taking care of my family. This has put a huge damper on the hobby for me right now. I am holding on very tight right now to not let this great hobby slip away from me. I am still active in Pattern competition, but that is about it for right now. Once my son gets a little older the hobby will start to pick up for me again. Right now my family is my priority. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Occupation: I work for AM General as a Diagnostic Author. AM General is the manufactuer of the military (HMMWV) High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle mainly known as the Humvee. AM General also supports vehicles produced by other manufacturers such as the (MRAP) Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle. I am currently working on the MRAP program. Most of my work is confidential so I can't go into detail but I can say it is very exciting. It is very rewarding knowing that I am part of a team that has a primary goal of suppling our troops with the best protection we can when they are in harms way.
