2010 is just about done. It's been a great year! Worked hard the first half of the year. Went to Joe Nall for a couple days, Went to Vegas for a couple weeks. Moved to California. Got promoted in my job. Met some new friends. Went to the Cali Huckfest. Started flying shankbones. Expanded my hanger enough to make up for some of the planes I have given away. Won the Yak at the Huckfest. Bought my first house. Bought a trailer. Learning many new and exciting things at work. Totally different systems than what I'm used to. Enjoying no threat of snow. etc... just to name a few things.

Overall, it's been a great year! The only downside is all of my family and most of my friends are 3,000 miles away.(also my truck!) Really sucks during this holiday season.... That and not being able to go to work.

Time to decide what my goals are for 2011. I'm just about done with work-related learning, so I hope to finish my associates degree. Just a few more classes to go... Then start on my bachelors.... I would like to take another job-related trip overseas, or two...

As for planes, my hanger is just about good to go for now, I just need to get out there and burn some more gas(and electrons) this year!

It would be nice to make some more friends. Life's kindda boring here.. It seems that everyone here is not as friendly as I'm used to...

Christmas was a wonderful day. With some light snow falling and not too much wind... break out the Roo! ('Roo' is my 87" 3DHS Extra 300SHP, re-covered in my own scheme with boxing kangaroo pilot). Nothing caps off a great day like being able to get out for some flying.

Just general nonsense, all fun. Caught some of it with the hatcam, it's in HD for those with the bandwidth....

Christmas Roo - 3DHS 87" Extra 300SHP (7 min 34 sec)

this is a rant. don't read any further.

I hate this time of year. Such a bloated reincarnation of what it used to be. Most of us feel entitled to receive something, yet complain about spending money and giving... I truly wish everyone the best, but why should we treat anyone any different than the rest of the year? The only holiday cheer that I see are the stores that are making a profit from manufacturing a fake holiday, or twelve.

The only holiday that I really enjoy, anymore, is Thanksgiving, when there's lots of family and food. Everything else, is just an excuse to spend ridiculous amounts on your kids... Whatever happened to giving a kid a nice shotgun, 'cause they deserved after all the hard work they did around the house this year? Instead, kids are lazy, have a foul attitude, yet parents feel like they have to give them thousands of dollars worth of PS3's, and the like for the sole purpose of "Santa"...

Oh yea, there's no such thing as a fat man that flys around on Christmas eve, in his reindeer powered sleigh giving toys to little boys and girls. Why do parents feel the need to lie to their kids like that.... sets a bad example...

just my rant for this season. back to living my boring life... stupid rain needs to leave so I can finally go and get some more flying in...

Ah, man I am 100% addicted to this thing. I love my Ipod but after awhile its still the same couple thousand songs in the same order. Man I hit this and typed in "Southern rock" over a month ago and I have yet to hear a song I didn't like. I just wish I could get it piped out to my shop and into the truck and out to the flying field. I am listening as I type and man what a great song. I guess I should get one of those new I phones and grab the app. This one place could get me to pull the trigger on a new phone..I was talking to my dad a couple weeks ago and he asked me what I was listening too and I told him Pandora. He checked it out and today on my way home he called me and he couldn't believe the music stuff he had not heard in years mixed with stuff he had never heard.. Best part he finally had to agree "Kid Rock" is not only caring the rock flag but the guy has some serious style and can rock the freakin house. I had to laugh cuz he would always bust my balls in the shop about what real music is.. Ah, I guess I have him now..

Enjoy Pandora..

Guys, I got almost all the equipment to put together a 50cc airframe. I am having a hard time deciding beetween the 89" AJ Slick from 3D Hobby Shop or the 88" Extra 300 from Extreme Flight. I currently own three EF airframes and I cannot be happier with them, simply love'em!!!!...... But I had to admit the the Slick is ringing my bell..... I only read and hear good things about it...

It will be great to hear some comments about current owners from both planes, or better if someone had both or at least had flew them. I am not considering any other so please dont post any comments from another plane that is not the already mentioned.

Any help will be apprecciated....

hi guys

been given an almost finished cap 21 from a club mate. only been in the hobby for about 1 1/2 years so don't realy know heaps about this stuff. I'll soon be working on a 30cc mx2 so don't expect this progect to get finished in the near future. i've got some questions but any additional info will be helpful. back to the questions, how much should it weigh? how well does it fly? would a satio 100 be any good? and can i paint it or will that make it to heavy? and finaly what aerobatics does it exel at.

thanks lachlan.

sorry about the spelling.

Well, I bought some typical graphics for my AW 35% Extra 260. (Futaba/Fromeco/DA/ect) and I am now realizing this doesnt create any uniqueness for an ARF like the Aeroworks. This is where my creativity falls short with this hobby and it looks like I may resort to copying someone else.

Any cool schemes or graphics ideas will be appreciated.

Well, 2010 was a great year. The club problems from 2009 dissipated with the new club officers refocusing the club on flying and having fun. Man that really helps the atmosphere at the flying site. Much of our club's members are retired and some not in such good health. And I know the attitude for them is they want to go out doing what they love, flying not arguing. Thanks to the club members that see the light. Speaking of the flying site, our club finally bit off the chew, and replaced the building and cover. Great donations for some key club members made that all possible. Check out the new duds. http://www.lrccky.com/ Also I have to thank Big John for the help on the web site. It sure makes a big difference when you have help on project like these. Even though I had less flights in 2010 than I did in 2009, it was still a great year. Added several new gas planes to the hangar, two YAKs, two SUKHOIs.

Now to turn our sights on 2011.
My new years resolution will be to fly more, work less and fix those planes that beg to go flying!
I made Oshkosh in 2009, and I want to make Joe Nall and a Huchfest in 2011.
My new job will likely make that possible.
Numb thumbs on new years day will likely be a cold ass day!

My Areoworks Edge 540 needs a couple warm days to have it ready for a maiden.
I love my old version DLE30 on my SU29, and can't wait to see how the 55 pulls the Edge.

I also want to voice my appreciation for the folks at Flying Giants. I love following all the regulars.
So cheers to all of you all that love the same hobby that i do!

A simple way to illuminate for small models is using LEDs, two LEDs are sufficient. The resistor used can be between 560Ω to 2200Ω. The low value of resistor will be greater intensity of LEDs. Below details in photos.

Well I have a thread on another forum and it seems that I may be "Hyper-lite" Crazy. Or obsessed with planes that are NOT over weight. I picked up a 38% Columbo Anderson Extra a couple months back and its been sitting sort of waiting for me to get the right deal on a 150. I have been reading Sensei's threads for almost two years I started like many of you calling the guy nuts. He calmly worked his ass off and proved me wrong. Well since then I have wanted to do my own project and since then Aerotech has started to kit these designs. UP to this point all I have been doing is sending links and sharing as much of Sensei's work that I can and I may have gone a tad over board with the "FANBOY" stuff really just three airplane companies out there for me right now. So I may be biased.. NO I am.. Now you all know I have a real hard time buying anything new. Hell if I could get used eggs and milk I would. (speaking of chickens I will have a coup for next spring) no more buying eggs for this guy..OK, So I'm sitting looking at this Columbo and like everything else its on the list..I grab my 106 and wouldn't you know it.. IT fits right on the dang motor box.Name: striped (12).jpg

I plan to finish up the fuse 100% recover the works before I even start the wings and stabs. If you have a crashed or a kit sitting that is considered to old or "imac" plane screw it strip her down and get to reading Sensei's threads break out the dremel.. Man If I can do it anybody can.. Not to mention I am dong something I thought once impossible..
