Since my understanding is that blogs are like personal journals for the world to see. I thought I would start one reguarding the 6 large planes I'm slowly going to work on. A Big Hots, 1/3 scale Cub, Pitts S2B, Miss Sanberdanio, 52% Giles, and Katana X. All except the Katana X are proven designs and don't need any modifications but I couldn't call myself a modeler if I didn't change something. The Katana X is a plan I downloaded a few years ago, I look it over and it seemed ok but to be safe I'll be looking over it's structure in more detail to be sure.

I've been in the hobby since 1988 so I've learned a few things over the years. I also have 90+ sets of proven paper plans, everything from chuck gliders to the 52% Giles, to look at for reference. I've also built many kits (and unfortunately assembled 1 B(ARF)).

I'm not sure where I'm going with this but hopefully my ramblings will be of interest and informative to some out there.

I returned to the hobby in 2010 and forgot so very much how much I loved flying, how flight is a core part of who I am. Just after I reclaim this part of me for myself, I discover that the hobby is at risk of being hobbled with onerous regulation. Through the decades I have seen how general aviation has suffered setbacks and I fear RC may be following (personal sentiment). And so I also realize that Americans have a voice into government, a small one, albeit a voice. And its an important cause, to me anyway, and apparently I am not alone in that belief. RC'ers are standing up, speaking out, and most importantly participating in the lawmaking and rulemaking processes. Hey, if the new Rule is ok or doesn't come to pass, we win. If not, at least we tried and will have no regrets trying to say under 400' AGL, LOL. A win-win campaign either way and a lesson in representative government.

To all.... Don't forget to fill out the AMA letter to your Congress person to tell them "No to proposed FAA restrictions" on model aviation. It takes just a few seconds and it is really is the only way to show a count for our hobby.Take it from someone that knows about the FAA and restrictions. Another example of we are here to protect you at any cost....including freedoms

With all the offerings out there from Extreme Flight, Pilot, PAU, H-9, Great Planes, Wildhare, etc.
Which one stands above the others in performance, quality, looks, and performance? Having owned a TOC Edge 540, and an EF Yak 54 50cc plane, I am looking to replace those since I have sold them and still have a DA50 hanging around. Interested in your input guys...........

I just thought I would say hello... long time RCG user but have always lurked these pages... full blog can be found on RCGroups.com under the same name

I am currently flying a fleet of sport and 3d planes, but am wanting to get into giant scale warbirds and also 90 mm edfs.

Everything I fly is electric, controlled by a JR 11x tx and a variety of DSM2 rxs.

Last pic: officer caught me going 73mph in a 15mph zone... also got a citation for not coming to a complete stop at the stopsign...

(it sure was nice on the other side of that laser gun for once)

Just wanted to say "Hi!" to all members. I've been flying RC since 1962. Can't fly like I used to but it will be good to hear what's new and the steps (for me, "Leaps) all of you are making. In '62 we flew with rudder only and normally hand lauched. We thought it was a great day when we were able to add elevator.

Started the 30% today. Received servos (hs7955tg) and swb servo arms about a week ago. Ordered a DA-60 to power this plane! Control horns are are glued in on the rudder, tail wheel installed, and currently I am working on mounting the landing gear. More updates and pics soon!
