So Patto has been telling me I can't miss the Huckfest in Wenatchee Wa, so my wife wife left the kids with my in-laws, packed the trailer and made the 7.5 hour drive. We arrived on Friday afternoon and had planned to go home on Saturday afternoon. Well let's just say when it came time to pack my wife and I looked at each and said no way, we can't leave now! You gotta love a wife that is just as excited about an RC Event as I am! We were having way to much fun and stayed till Sunday.
Hats off to the Red Apple Fliers, pilots and the organizers of the event! What a great time. The vibe was awesome and the people were so nice and welcoming. I am estimating there were around 75 pilots and all threw down in PNW style... which I learned is low-n-slow! Kyle, Gaby, Nathan, Oliver, Pat, Harv, Kody, D-man, Skywagon180 (Jason), SupaTim, Vitter and of course Daniel Holman and a whole lot of other pilots killed it! It was very humbling and nerve racking to get my beloved little 50cc EF Extra 300 up in the air as the same time as these guys. I kept waiting for a good time and then just said screw it.... I fired it up and away i went... I was in the mile high club for most of my flights to stay out of the way but got down on the deck a few times for some high speed flybys. I broke out the 48" EPP SBach a few times under the lights as well which was a blast.
I witnessed some amazing demos and one particular new trick I have never seen or heard about was Gaby's 500 ft (on purpose) deadstick down to an inverted (2 to 3 feet off the ground) pop back to upright landing!!!! WOW!!!! Later Kyle and Gaby did it again together!
Loved the event, Loved the people, Loved being alone with my beautiful awesome wife for a few days! What a weekend!

Well Monster Fest has come and gone....
It was an absolute blast! 40 some pilots / 500 spectators / 2 days of pure awesomeness!!!
Planning for next year has already begun! It will be a 3 or 4 day event in 2014! Stay tuned for dates!
