I thought I'd share a quick video taken just before the monsoon started on Sunday morning. This is a coaching flight over Cranwell, the video is my usual headset mounted camera, but the "voice" is that of the coach - who is on the ground 150m back from the main runway at centre box.

He is recording into an android phone, at the end of the flight he emails me the commentary and by the time i've landed and shut down its there on my iphone for a post flight debrief. When I get home I simply match the "wing rocks" comment to the video and make the film in the link below. Standard practice for the top French coaches apparently.

I'm posting here because I'd never heard of this technique in my R/C aerobatics days - if you can find a the right person to watch your flights and record their thoughts it seems like a really good way to raise your game. (PS - having a thick skin also helps )

Here's the film - there's a password "pba"

A short video of the lunchtime entertainment at my local R/C club's annual F3A event. It's a pleasure to do this - my father was one of the founder members in 1959 and I've been flying R/C with them since I was 5 years old.

The R/C field is the one with a row of cars parked along the lane next to is and a green pop up gazebo. Hopefully you can see from the vid just how hard it is to begin and then fly the sequence in the right place.

Here's a few of the better shots from our formation photoshoot last Friday. "Blue" is an RV-7 built by Tom Bootyman that started flying earlier this year. "Orange" is my own RV-6. We departed Shackwell Farm in Leicestershire UK and flew around the Rutland Water area.

Thanks to Mark Sharp for flying the (172) camera ship and Ian Bracegirdle for the photography (Canon EOS 5D Mk III / Canon 70-200 F2.8).

Here's my "WIP" Intermediate free known sequence design. Plenty of sky underneath me at this stage - I'm reasonably happy with how it flows ... a lot of height loss though.

Here's the 2017 edition ... It's been a great year, managed to get my bottom into some truly special aeroplanes and generally had a great time.

Although there's no R/C stuff in the vid I had some great times flying and watching at various events. The highlight had to be Jase "The Ace" Dussia at Weston Park, But our Nationals at Barkston were great, as were evenings at my local club field and more lately indoor F3P flying at Newark

Anyway, here's wishing everyone on here a very Happy Christmas. I do hope you like the 'vid .

10 days to go until the nationals ...... here's yesterdays practice session.

3 Cameras, Synced to first wing rock then edited by switching between them along an unadjusted time line. Fairly happy, Just need to watch out for the 1000' minimum altitude, there's a second or two at 900' near the end

Time Flys 2016 (3 min 28 sec)

Seasons greetings video viewers !

Only 34 days to Christmas ..... Time for another "Time Flys" methinks !

Here's the 2016 vintage, the latest of a line stretching Waaaaaay back to 2012 no less.

Crank it up to 11, sit back and spend 3 mins, 28.1 seconds looking back at 2016 with WIGY TV.

Thanks to the Cesars for the "Jerk it out" soundtrack (not that I asked them .... but I did pay itunes a £1 for it)

The "Phew" right at the end is all my own - probably the most sincere you will ever hear.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it, see you again in 2017.
