I began building small models of jet aircraft in 1949. I started building and flying control line models in 1953. I progressed to RC in 1972 building Heath kit RC radios and converting control line kits to RC. I built my first Top Flite P-51 in 1974 and started building and flying ducted fan jets as soon as I could get ahold of 3 view drawings of The F-16. I dropped that project as soon as the BYRON F-16 was available and went through 3 of those kits. (I still have one F-16 and most of The BYRON F-86.) I like jets but the cost and risk keeps me just watching.
I fly Thermal Duration gliders both winch launch and electric. I have test flown numerous different types of war birds for friends and currently own 3 GS P-51B & D Models. I use both Gas and electric motors in them although I am still experimenting with the ideal electric combination.
