I said "better" looking It's still Boeing's strange looking egg shaped fuselage with engines hung so low they probably suck in anything on the ramp smaller than a VW. Plus the cockpit that is still 90% straight out of the 60's. Good thing retro is in.

Maybe I like ugly. Eyes of the beholder I guess. I spent about 8 years in the 737, 200's and 300's. Honest good handling and quality engineering. Built by pilots for pilots. Really miss it even after even more time in the 320 series. The only thing I don't miss is the center control column. Still can't believe Boeing didn't get rid of that anachronism with the 787.

Had a Boeing engineer tell me they had more FOD issues with the 737 than any other bird in the fleet. One guy managed to suck a ground cooling hose right out of its bin during taxi in. When the 300's were new people used to say the nacelles were flat to spread out the load when Frank Lorenzo's scab's landed gear up.

The 737 isn't the ugliest airplane ever, although that DOES belong to Boeing still with their JSF entry.

Yea, that's pretty ugly. But there was another ugly fighter designed by North American back in the '50's to replace the F-100. It lost out to the F-105.

While we're on the subject of ugly planes here's a good way to ruin an Aeronca Champ

Ah yes, the Tri-Champ. They were actually manufactured that way. Was a real trick in the wind just to taxi it, especially with quartering tailwinds.

I remember laughing my butt off when Matt Chapman taxied in with one of these Champs at a contest long ago. He had a conflict and couldn't compete, so borrowed the 7FC and flew over to say hi.

A good old 65hp 7AC is one of the nicest flying little airplanes ever built IMO. So much fun.
