About time someone made a better mount than the spindly standoffs most use...Looks great, like another big time engine I can think of ...There is no better engine company today than GP, made in Taiwan...And assembled in Taiwan....You will find that almost all the good engine components made today come from Taiwan....

I will have a 123! Got a Carden Edge and a set of RE2's that would be nuts with that kind of power.

Not according to the data from the 88's and 176's.....I know I have room for two 123's right now

Specifically the 123 is what I am referring to. An earlier post states that they are shooting for at least the power of the DA-120, which would be great, as long as it doesn't shake as bad as the DA-120 does.

I am in the market for a replacement 170CC engine and will be purchasing one in the next few months.
The GP 176 will be on the short list, but I am taking a wait and see approach. I'm hearing lots of good things about the GP 176, but since I'm in no hurry, it certainly doesn't hurt me to see what shakes out over the next few months.

An opposed twin should not shake.....Two of the smoothest twins on the planet are the Zenoah GT80 and the old Horner twin...Both are so smooth they barely shake the plane...

I have the 176 and the 170 and can say that the 176 is a work of art, I'm very impressed. I have not had it in the air yet, but I'm getting close!!

interested in your direct comparison.
The thing is, a new GP176 is $1200, plus the header conversion attachments from planebender would need to be purchased, and I'm not sure what shipping would be to WA state. For that matter, any stateside dealers yet? Then there is the good ol reliable DA-170 (with new reed block). seems like a person can easily get a slightly used one in the $1200 range, then have stateside service if its needed, plus DA's legendary support.

So summarize it for me.
Anyone selling the GP's in the states yet that also will be there to handle the 2 year warranty?

For me the gp88 has been a great engine, and dealing with Zi has been a really nice experience also. He replaced my broken muffler right away, and after sending the 176 engine with wrong destinatary, he sent me another one before he got the first one.
I will be the first in line when the 123 is released.
Here is a pic of the 176

thanks for posting that pic.
she does look pretty nice.

RCEXL ignition? Will it handle HV, or is it one of the older 6v or less units?
