The Sig Rascal 168 - Toledo Weak Signals Expo 2016

Mike Stott of Sig speaks with me about the all new 14' Rascal that's available in kit form. Check it out!

A 14' Gentle Giant

Hanging high above the floor of Toledo is a monster Rascal that's sporting a 168" wingspan. The Sig Rascal 168 comes as a kit only, and is currently being produced in limited numbers, based on interest. I spoke with Mike Stott about the big Rascal, and he gave the run down on specs and pricing. Check out the video below for more info.

I haven't built in a long time. This ship looks like it will be fun to build and fly. I Now need to get me a 60cc engine for this one. Have a need for some fun. Looks like it would be a blast on floats. I bet Balsa USA 1/3 scale floats on this would work. S Mullis

Yep. That's the same price as the giant Telemaster, but you get 2 extra feet and it looks better (IMO)!

The debut was at Toledo and they don't have them up yet. I would email SIG through their website and secure one if you want it. They're only cutting a limited number and may do more if demand increases.

I saw this plane in Toledo in person. The wood is stunning, not ply, but Baltic birch!! All interlocking construction, etc.. I would put a 60cc twin on it.

Looks like the perfect old timer for a modern age! Wish the cowl was a little more... round.

Yea, me too. It's squared off a little too much. Regardless, she's a looker!

Dang! I wonder how a Saito 57cc twin would do on that?

I'd love to build one, but I already have one of the old school kit built 12' Telemasters with a Dle 60 twin, plus a 110" Rascal with a Syssa 30, so I don't really need another big high wing gentile zen type plane...

Yeah it looks like a lot of time designing and cutting went into that. Looks like it would build quickly and be close to impossible to build it crooked.

I realize I'd be the minority, but I kind of wish it was laser cut ribs, and everything else was up to you to cut from a box of sticks (at less than half the price).
