Who is Flying a Taranis or Horus?

I'm currently flying a Futaba 14SG but I have been looking at the Taranis and the Horus just as an alternative.

Anyone here flying anything 50cc or bigger wood or composite with either the Taranis or Horus?

A lot of the quad guys seem to be using the radios the most and I'm curious if anyone here is using one and what you have to say about it.

Nothing wrong with my 14SG, just looking around.

I fly a 120cc Su26 (My avatar holding a Taranis Plus)
120cc Raven (Chapman)
55 CC Yak 54

Was a futaba guy, learned OpenTX on a Taranis Plus, now fly all these planes (and many others) using a Horus.

All my planes use either X8R or X6R receivers through SBUS and Aura8.

It's a fantastic radio.

I just got a taranis plus. Learning OpenTX and what the abbreviation's mean for everything will be the hard part but I know it will be worth it in the end. Once I figure it out I will be selling my futaba stuff most likely to buy enough receivers to install in everything. Currently picked up one of the V8R4-II for my foamie as I don't need telemetry on it and a couple of the X6R for some of my nitro planes.

JoeT you have any good links on setup info for the taranis. Specifically what all the abbreviation's stand for?

I started using a neck strap again. What is the balance issue?

I've done some reading on the Horus but the RCG thread is pretty big.

This is the book method:

Or you can join the Facebook groups, or RCGroups

But I would be happy to answer here as well.

I use the T9 Hobbysport balance arms, it leans the Horus slightly forward instead of slightly rearward like the switch button mount.

Ya, I looked at those........a question if you don't mind; What angle relative to horizontal would you say the TX "Hangs" at?......I prefer mine at about a 30* "Nose/Down".......also, how does the neckstrap attach to the balance arms? ....Thanks
Ed

I moved from the Futaba 14sg to Horus this year and am overly impressed with how much more intuitive it is [for me at least] with the Horus. And the Horus is far more capable in my short time with it... so far I have the EF 74" Edge gasser with smoke and the EF 70"Extra on it and a few quads.

I do hate they do not offer receivers with more than 8channels though (must use dual rx or sbus).

The Horus neckstrap is used, and there are rings that you clip the neck strap to.

It hangs freely about 35 degrees nose down.

Yup you are correct, 8 PWM ports / 16 through SBUS. I actually use it this way, I use 1-8 through the Aura8, then use the regular receiver ports from 9 - 16. I map things like throttle or IBEC through the standard ports and put it through the power distribution board.

Have you taken a look at the new RX8R receivers with redundancy? You can gang 2 receivers together and have Receiver 1 as 1-8 then receiver 2 have 9-16.

Which facebook group would you recommend then as that would be easiest for me.
