JR Propo / Japan Remote Control Ltd - gone bankrupt
Sadly previous rumours have proved to be true. Formal bankruptcy was filed for in Osaka Japan on 26th December:

How or if this impacts on the RC-Depot organisation that's currently distributing JR brand products I've no idea. I'd have thought that the JR brand name and their intellectual property would be tied in with the bankruptcy dealings somehow? |

Hmmmm, more troubling news from a great RC product line.
BUT, bankruptcy may not be all bad IF, the bankruptcy is filed as a way for the company to eventually become more viable with a better cash flow. Hopefully the bankruptcy was not filed in a way that ends up being a selloff of assets to pay creditors. Either way, with JR outsourcing the manufacturing of their product line and the announcement that they were going to put on hold any R and D for future products for the forseeable future, did anybody NOT see this bankruptcy announcement coming??? This hobby is going thru a tough stretch right now, with some very respectable RC product manufacturers closing their doors and LHS failures everywhere, hopefully most can weather the storm. There are a couple of JR TEAM members that frequent this site, Maybe they can chime in with some insight. |

My understanding is that JR Propo company stopped production and went out of business more than a year ago. So I assume this bankrupty announcement is just the end of the formal going out of business procedure.
RC-Depot in Japan has subsequently taken over production of JR products. All are now made in Malaysia. (Previously some JR products were made in Malaysia and most/many were made in Japan). This occurred many months ago. RC-Depot was responsible for recently bringing new receivers to market. New JR products made in Malaysia are being sold by JR America in US, and other countries such as UK by McGregor. |

A month or two back I ordered NX8931 and NX588 servos from JR-America.
Both types were made in Malaysia. New receivers I have received were also made in Malaysia. The Malaysian made servos and receivers were in cardboard boxes (previous Japanese-made servos were in plastic boxes). Maybe the servos you got were previous Japan made products ?? |

The NX3421’s are still coming out of Japan. Guess it just depends on the specific item.

From MacGregor, the UK JR importer, plus by RC-Depot themselves who have posted lots of info on facebook (pictures of their new warehouse and boxes piled high of JR products etc).
But this bankruptcy announcement (along with the debt of 4 billion yen) might threaten the deal that was done between JR and RC-Depot. There again it might all be ok, at this point who knows for sure? |
