Great thread, lots of good info. In the early stages of the build process myself. Bummer about the rudder horns, I guess I have some gutting to do. I am using MKS-777 A+ servos so this should be interesting!

My MKS-777 A+ servos just fit. If I push in on the covering on the opposing side I can just feel the servo. It's definitely a tight fit.

I will be going with dual rudder servos. Thinking of not using a sled. The servo slots are there already since I went with the Pilot servos the arms were provided . any thoughts? Other things I liked were the pre installed & glued hinges. All were done except the rudder to fuse. I can live with that. I also like the lower cowling mount bolts being exterior in lieu of interior. I'm liking the canopy latch too. I have to make a couple of mods to the preinstalled fuel tank but I'm liking that as well.

I'm considering dual rudder servos as well. Going with the pre-cut slots. I haven't used Pilot servos so I don't have any feedback for you. I always modify my fuel tanks. Take out the brass tube and solder barbs on each end to hold the fuel line better. Good luck with the build, keep us posted.

I used bonded washers on mine. I was concerned about the bolts pulling through the baracket. In addition the bonded washers keep the bolts from coming loose.

I must of got the ONLY 1 with the space to small for regular servos! I also noticed that all the 1's pictured are the Leroy air show scheme, mine is the Yellow, Black and red stripe scheme. Don't know why, but NO standard size servo fits in mine without a bulge..I should be ok with 300 oz/tourqe, with my MKS low profile servos though

Might maiden mine tomorrow if the wind cooperates. Part of our pits r clear of snow, and the runways r clear. Hopefully the wind will chill out, 58 degrees is warm enough for me!!!

Need Canister Advice

I am building this plane with a DA120 and canister mufflers. This is my first two cylinder engine and first time using canister mufflers. I am going to use the KS 86 canister mufflers. I am undecided between the rear dump and front dump canisters. KS recommends using two mounts per canister. I was originally going to use the rear dump canisters however if I do that I can't glue in the wood mounts. I would have to screw them in or I would never be able to remove the canisters as the rear dump pipe prevents being able to get the canister through the mount. The problem with screwing the mounts in place is with all the vibration from gas engines the screws could come loose. I will probably go with front dump canisters as then I can glue the mounts in place. Would appreciate any advice or insight. Thanks.

Go figure the two schemes would have different specs! Good luck on the maiden and keep us posted!

Very nice! How did it balance for you? Also, where is your pilot head from? I know the cockpit is kinda' odd shaped as far as height to width so I wasn't sure if I was going to even use one. Thanks

Mine balanced with 2 5000mah Pulse lipos on the tray next to the rudder servo. No added weight. The pilot bust is from Aces of Iron. It’s their 33% civilian pilot.
