SKYWING 91" EDGE 540

I maiden'd the Skywing 91" Edge 540 yesterday. This was a 12hr build.

Big thanks to SupaTim at NorthwestRC.

At 19.5lbs dry with batteries included - this is one light Edge 540.

Not as aggressive as the smaller 89" Extra or Laser - but excels in high alpha, low and slow flying. The roll rate is insane!

Setup:

DA70
24x9 Falcon
Bluebird Helical H51B x 5
Bluebird BMS-2109 x 1
Pulse 2550mah 2S lipo x 2
Futaba7008
Skywing 4" Anodized lightened checkered Spinner

19.5lbs dry with batteries.

How did you get a yellow one? Not shown on his site and he told me the scheme was too similar to the Extra...

I got it from EU. NorthwestRC should have them in a few weeks.

I love mine. Something thats not obvious from pictures: This is as big as the AJ Laser93, its huge, much bigger than a 3DHS Edge 92 or Extra 95. I have a short, bad shaking video of one of the first flights, if thats interesting. Mine is electric, 14S5000, GA6000/160, HW160V4, Xoar 24x12. I destroyed mine after some flights and immediately baught a second one. For me this is the ultimate 90' plane so far.

Lots of folks flying this on the GP61 with a 24X9. Here is one of the old vids:

skywing-rc 91in-edge540/60cc (6 min 47 sec)

A few youngsters wanted to fly some Skywing planes yesterday. Got a few phone camera vids:

Skywing Edge 540 91" (6 min 28 sec)

Skywing Edge 540 91" DA70 - Antonio De Souza (4 min 24 sec)

One of them liked one of the Skywing's so much - he ended up buying one of my 101" Extra! Luckily I have another on the table - which will maiden later this week.

GP76 swap from DA70 and performance difference

Replaced the DA70 and put a new GP76 with a 25X9 prop on Tuesday May 23rd. Got 10 flights on it so far - still stock needle settings.

Wow, wow wow. This GP76 is a powerhouse and very smooth. Transition is smoother than my DA70 that was replaced (sorry but I will have to let one of them go now).

Weight difference is 20grams (appx. 1oz). The standoff length change 1.5mm (GP needed 1.5mm less standoffs). Shockingly - nothing else needed to be changed/modded. The mufflers lined up perfectly and the spark plug caps fit inside the cowl.

This aircraft was fun with the DA70 but with the GP76 it added a few extra degrees of oomph.

How's it holding up? Thinking of ordering one.
You running the stock mufflers on the GP? Looks like what you have on there fits nicely in the cowl.

It is holding up just fine. Picked up one for my buddy at Joe Nall as well from NorthwestRC.

The GP and the DA are almost identical and they fit perfectly in the cowl. You will need to cut a little slot for the left Spark plug cap.
