I have to mention that this engine has to have the right application to take advantage of the light weight. I had this in an AJ ARS 300 and ended up with a tail heavy situation, despite moving EVERYTHING as far forward as possible. I even moved the pull pull rudder servo to the inside of the motor box and still had to use a heavy spinner to get it to balance. Using heavy spinner kind of defeated the purpose of lightening the engine.

I'm hoping the EF Extra 85" will balance with the lightened engine without having to add heavy nose components
Thanks for the heads. SLOWLY working on building. Will be taking care to keep it from tail heavy.

How is the slow speed handling of this design? Has anyone here flown one yet? I Just recieved mine a couple weeks ago and curious on what to expext. I love the characteristic of a Edge540 and Im building one now. Would this EF 85" 300 compare more to a 330sc (thicker airfoil) or a 330lx(thinner airfoil)? Thanks guys

I flew one on a DA50 once. The radio had not nearly enough expo for my taste so I really did not get a great deal for it.

In general I would say it flies extremely well both on the wing and off the wing. Very stable. But it still flies like an Extra and not like an Edge. The overall feel of this plane will be slightly more slippery than an Edge. For me, that's a good thing!

Either will work. But offset will give you better results in that both wires will stay under more consistent tension. The straight one will give a little more slack in the lines as you turn the servo

Go to Advanced auto and get some of the reflective heat tape to either put on the servo, or if there's enough room, put a light ply partition between the pipe and servo and put the reflective tape on that.
I save heat shielding off various motorcycles I part out and use that.

Heat tape! Nice idea.

I moved the servo to inside the motor box. It is now lying on its side inside the box. It is no longer directly over the pipe either. I think the tape would have been easier.

Now that you mention it... This frame has no pipe tunnel. Should I put some tape under my RX in the back? It's a CF pipe.
