I have a new zoar wood prop that will not stop crushing this is a new prop that hasn’t even been flown and I have retorqed it every day for going on 2 weeks.
I have used wood before and never had this much trouble

On occasion, I've run into that problem on most every brand of wood prop I've used. I just pass this off to some pieces of wood being much softer and less resistant to crush than others. Some hardly crush at all. Just a hazard of using a natural material like wood .... it's inconsistent. I still fly most of my planes with wood though and bin the few props that have problems. Maybe the dealer would replace them? I've never asked.

Edit: Looking closer at the photos, that appears to be a painted prop. The one of those I had crushed link yours. I wonder if they try to hide less than perfect wood under the paint?

Yeah I will probably call them on Monday and speak to them this one is crushing so bad the wood is splitting

Holy overtorqued. Snug the prop bolts. Those were clearly over tightened. I have always used wood props. Painted, Laminated etc. Never had once crush under the front retainer. Never had any bolts come loose. You’d be surprised how little stretch you need on a grade 8 prop bolt to hold.

get an oversize prop washer from white rose engineering

First of all those bolts where torqued with a torque wrench to the recommended setting and never over tighten
I have used wood props for years and have never had that problem before this prop.
I threw that prop out and got a new one and it has been fine.
Oh and I spent 27 years as a master auto tech and know a thing or two about bolt stretch lol

I havent used wood props in many years, and when I did, I used Xoar Laminated, so I dont know what the value is. I have heard 50"# up to 75"#. I guess anything over 75"# will crush the hub.

Give me carbon, or give me nothing.

A good prop will break 4mm bolts like used in many smaller engines around 30cc. Larger 55cc as this might be based on hole size and spacing indicates only 1 size larger. Torque isn't the problem here. Poor paint and weak wood are most likely and since wood won't compress and leave the ridge, it's paint. Sand it and redo it if you want or leave it bare (covered by spinner?) and see if it continues.

It was indeed the wood crushing and not just paint was verified it is now a paint stir
Just a bad prop bought another one and it has been fine
