Yeah, the very first 72's had nylon washers on both sides of wristpin, between the rod and piston. They didn't last long at all, just a few tanks of fuel through them and they were gone.I bought mine from DJ Power and told him the problem and he sent me metal washers and parts to repair it.After that all the 72's had metal washers and no more problems. It is a great 3D engine with it's quick throttle response and torque.
Wonder if the 144 will have the same qualities.

Engines designed using washers on the wrist pin dont have thrust washers on lower rod journal and support from latteral movement of the rod and destroying lower rod bearing and crank pin. I can see how this would have been a big cause of failers. Ive built a bunch of Suzuki LT500R motors in my shop with blown cranks and when I go to rebuild the crabkshafts most have been found to have had pistons replaced at one time and the "thrust washers" missing from the wrist pin as this model has that design. Most others the thrust washers are at the bottom of the rod.

Well, that is the point of a 144 over a 120! But is it more powerful than a GP-123 or DA-120? My 2011 vintage DA-120 turns a Falcon 28-9.5 at 6700 on quiet MTW -75 cans.

Their 72 only had the power of a good running 60.They were suppose to do some improvements on it but I haven't seen any real world numbers yet.
8000 0n a 28-10 it will be a popular 144 engine if it does.

I assume that is with the stock “mufflers”? A 28-10 at 8K with stocks would be ear splitting and not be allowed to fly a second time. A 29-10 might be more appropriate.

In reality it should be compared to a 150, and the props they use,and not the 120 class. But maybe it will be used in 120 class of planes,do guy's use 150's in 35% planes,It's been out for a while and there's not much info on props and rpm on it.Time will tell.

Lots of great stuff out or coming out.

The 144 is supposed to bolt up to 120 size airframes. Same with the DLE130 let the takeoff begin "A La Quisine"!! (Iron chef)

Having instant torque, better Downline braking are all great, I'd love to put on larger props on my 120 cc airframes and not lose on transition.
