Thanks...
yes, it won't pull power from the USB cable

Nothing fancy, just plain setup and it is working well.
I have to admit that the harder belt is tied the better results I see.
I guess it is preventing gyro shaking from side to side.
The SAITO FG36 gas engine is installed on my plane horizontally, thus airframe is shaking in horizontal direction the most.

My initial thought was about CG :-) and in fact I initially put Cortex at CG.

How I found the lowest vibration point?
Well, in my plane the engine SAITO FG36 mounted horizontally, thus most shacking happening from side to side.
The idea came instantly from blue sky :-) .... It was very hot day at the field and I was drinking bottled water .... some water dropped on the wing :-) and at this point the idea to use water drops came to my mind :-)
Well, long story short ... I put drops of water inside fuselage at different location and watched them how much they vibrates :-)
Not easy task honestly, as they all vibrates, , but I think I found one, which vibrate less.
That point is about 30cm back toward tail from CG.

I am also planning to use video camera mounted on tripod and record fuselage shaking at 240f/s from the top. Playing back at 30f/s may help to see, which part of the fuselage shacking less.
Once again, the engine on my plane mounted horizontally, which should allow me to perform my indirect "measurement".

From the looks of your picture I see Velcro under the Cortex and it is a second piece that is running cross wise the long strip you have running lengthwise in the fuse.

Are you using Velcro to mount the Cortex? If so that is 99% of the reason why you are seeing oscillations due to vibrations. You need to mount it with the thin pad or one layer of 3M outdoor tape. The Cortex needs to be mounted solidly to the air frame especially in a gas one. Once you do it that way you will find you can turn the gain up more, and then if you still need it you can strap it down more with the red velcro strap in the picture, but you probably will not need to.

Yes, thank you.
By now I also realized that Cortex need to be mounted w/o any Velcro, but only with thin pad provided with Cortex.
Prior my next step to raise the gain to 25-30% I will change the way Cortex is mounted.

Just purchased the Cortex to install in my Hangar 9 Sukhoi 3.1 with Smart-Fly EQ-10 and Futaba 6014 RX.

Should make for a nice setup and flight

what's the best setup for 25kg coreless HV servos (MKS1220HV)?
I want have redundant receiver and power source (2x LiPo).

How should I connect servos, cortex and powersource correctly and which option should I use for receiver? connect to JR DMSS satellites or use DMSS receiver with double powersources and antennas (JR-RG1131BPU)?

is it still not an oprion use X-Bus with standard Cortex gyro?
assist me, pls.

The new Cortex Pro will work with a JR X-Bus input. You have the option of using a single input or dual X-Bus input. When using a dual input the output from the Cortex Pro will go directly to one of the JR powered hubs like an X-Port Duo. All your servos will connect to the hub.

hows the newest firmware flying? my USB don't work so trying to find a reason to buy a new one. also id like to try lock mode with the rudder in rate mode. I think that would make takeoffs and landings a lot easier on scale birds. love the cortex so far

On the firmware or heading lock? Care to elaborate? I liked the igyro lock mode but don't know how the cortex compares if it's set the same. I got a few huge scale birds to help setup this winter with cortexes and trying to learn it now

Lock mode. The Cortex hold mode isn't like the iGyro's. I tried it in normal flight and it was horrible. I completely disabled it after that..

The latest firmware is fine...

No on lock mode in normal flight

The IGyro lock mode is disabled and reverts to rate mode as soon as you move that axis stick off center. That one is point IGyro, there's other stuff I like about the Cortex better including its channel flexibility but IG has a better heading hold mode IMHO

I'd hate to see a picture of you picking the pieces of an airplane out of a fence with a caption "crap, I shouldn't have done that!"

Here's a post on how I fine tune the Demon Cortex on a Futaba 18SZ. I welcome any comments or suggestions.

I'm building my first large gasser, EF 91" Extra with DA-70. I want to use the Demon Cortex with Hitec servos and Futaba R7008SB rx.

Is there a way to connect the Demon Cortex to the S.Bus port, or do each of the wires in the harness from the Cortex have to go into each of the channels of the rx?
