You sound like an insurance underwriter. So is the risk in crop dusting greater than driving ?

I'm saying you're more in control of your own destiny when flying versus driving.

Grew up around dusting in Kansas, even flagged. Always wanted to dust and used to practice in our Stinson after I soloed at 16, "dusting" my grandfathers wheat.

Usually stop and watch anytime I see someone working a field. The most impressive guy I've ever watched was a guy in an ag-cat in NE Louisiana near Delhi and Epps where my in-laws farm. Incredible to watch.

It takes a lot of skill, for sure. But more than that, an absence of fear, maybe even a few ounces of crazy.

I've know many who've dusted their whole lives without bending a plane, one from 18-78! It seems as though if one is going to die crop dusting, it happens pretty early in your career.

So after 25 years as a commercial pilot, the only crop dusters I've flown have all had a rope and a glider hooked on the back. Probably keep it that way.
