Gorilla Glue Wood Glue when dry

Once gorilla glue wood glue is dry what paints, glues, or solvents will mess it up, of any? Alcohol thinned epoxy for gas proofing? Poly-tack? Any Poly paints with Stits?

Do yourself a favor, make a test board and try the components you plan to use on some dried glue. You can save some dough by useing the base components, for example, like MEK for Stits products.

Sure thing but was hoping that others would share their experiences or things to lookout for. I’m certainly not the first person building a large scale, gas airplane. Thanks, in advance.

I’ve used it for many years
It is polyurethane and so far I have not run into anything that affects it
CA epoxy spray paint etc

I too have used it many times and never an issue to do other things that I am aware of.
But, in firewall and motorbox, I would recommend you use epoxy. Preferably Hysol or V-Poxy.

Whenever I have built my models, in this area, I always use epoxy based glues

Just my two cents

I’m not saying my way is gospel

Do what you want to do

I, too, use hysol where super strength is needed.

I have only ever used CA and epoxy but this is my first gasser build that also includes a smoke system and I usually gas and oil proof using alcohol thinned epoxy but was concerned about compromising the wood glue joints. I am also going to cover the plane with Stits and their paint products and even though most will be applied to dry, raw wood I’m a little curious to know if any runs into glue joints if it will mess up. I still wonder what nitrates or butyrate dope might do.

I will do some testing before committing but thank everyone for their input.

Glues(adhesives) such as CA's, epoxies, wood glues, etc.,,, are only as strong as the material(s) you are bonding together
