Back in Vietnam, I flew with the Big Red One Rebel Gunships. My callsign was 'Rebel 36'. Our platoon was 'sponsored' by the Confederate Air Force, and I was an honorary Colonel. The CAF provided us with large Stars and Bars decals, which we used on the doors of our C-model gunships and the pylons of our Cobras. The name of the organization was changed to Commemorative Air Force, but the CAF wings are still very familiar to me. It's great to have been a part of their history.

I remember the Confederate Air Force. They came to Lynchburg, VA almost 30 years ago with the Blue Angels and FiFi was there. I was almost 13 at that time and it was a memory that will be with me for life! My parents paid for me to tour the B-29, the B-17 and the B-25 that were there that day. I do not know what it cost them but it is something I will never forget!

Welcome home to you! I was at Phu Loi about the same time, and remember the Gunslingers and Robin Hoods.
