I know guys who only charge their transmitters Lixx bats once in awhile because they use so little power. They've all got caught with dead or weak batteries at least once sometimes causing a crash. Why worry or wonder .... charge every time out like we did in the old days and remove all doubt.

That is what I do to my plane batteries. LiFe Rx battery. I know how many flight I can do before I need a recharge. The Tx is different it is turned on and off a lot when programming my quads. So not really see how many milliamps I puled from the battery.
Lipo I can go by voltage.
