We thought it was a bunch of different things, starting with a slipped hub, then we thought it was ignition, so sent the motor back to DA. We were only getting 5300 rpm max, but it was sputtering and not running smooth. They threw it on a test stand, it went right to 6200 rpm, nothing wrong. So we thought maybe it was the battery, so we took out a li-ion and put in a 2000 mah nimh as a temporary to test, and it ran fine for a few minutes. Then we replaced all the fuel line, and it seemed to get better. We're betting it was an air leak in the fuel line. We also richened both needles, now we're almost 3 turns out on the high end.

Yikes, 3 turns out is far. Did you replace the fuel line inside the fuel tank as well?

What kind of RPM's are you getting since DA got 6200? What canisters are you running? MTW's or 3W/Pefa's?

MTW TD 110K's... with a 32x10 or 28.5x12, it gets 5500-5600 rpm...

line in the tank is new also. high end is probably 2 3/4 to 2 7/8 out

5600 is not bad at all. What prop does DA test with?

the paper said "28x12" with "ks exhaust" (i'm thinking it was tuned pipes) and it spun 6200

Thats an awful lot of R's for their elevation, maybe because it was a 28x12 rather than the 28.5... who knows.

i'm pretty sure they don't mean a "28x12" 2 blade, they would be using a 3 blade, right?

who knows.... it runs semi-good now, not complaining, but it'd be nice to get 6200 rpm, haha

All is well now. We get about 5600 or so with either prop, and it runs much smoother, flat out. It used to sputter and die out at high rpms. We actually changed or tested everything in the engine-ignition-fuel-battery systems. All we can figure is we had an air leak in the line from the tank to the carb., and, perhaps the needles were "off" a little bit. It sure was comforting though, to know that DA checked it all out, free of charge, and found nothing wrong. So all we had to do was check out our "stuff." See you all at Milford this weekend.

By the way guys ( Scott ) I just found out that my local Sunoco station has ethanol in it,and may contribute to poor running engines....Just a thought........

DA just needs to work on the Flex-Fuel engines like Ford!

Also thinking about using 89 octane instead of 87

Are there directions for the field posted anywhere?

I was there last year and remember it was on 209.

Thanks,

Galip
